Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) believes that writing a check to the descendants of slaves is not going to be enough when it comes to reparations.
In an interview with Jemele Hills podcast that was released on Monday evening, Hill, playing a game of for or against, asked Harris if she was for or against reparations. Harris answered: complicated. Hill, who interviewed Harris during Essence Fest in New Orleans, told her that wasnt one of the choices.
The presidential candidate then elaborated, saying she supports Rep. Sheila Jackson Lees (D-TX) commission to study reparations.
We need to address how were going to do it
because back to the point I was making about home ownership
back to the point I was making about disparities around education
you can look at health outcomes when you know that black women are three to four times more likely to die in connection with child birth, Harris said. So theres a lot that has to be about looking at this in a way that is about structural and systemic investment in communities.

Remind me again about who is divisive?
What does she want now? Sacrificing virgins?
Guess she means executions.
What are you going to do after you write your check Kamala? Maybe you could go clean some black people’s houses. You got a lot of family history to answer for.
She’s angling for land re-distribution as well.
Get out your checkbook, bitch! As I understand it, your ancestors were selling slaves while mine were either in Europe or living in the mountains of Arizona and New Mexico.

Kamala the Slave Mistress be rumblin’ bout da shakedown!
When she writin a check to the descendants of the slaves HER family be ownin??
writing a check to the descendants of slaves is not going to be enough
I agree. A check for $100 not enough, need include one way passage back to country of origin for those who want the money.
Course it ain’t. It ain’t gonna change a damn thing. So don’t do it.
Yes, and what party is creating division again?
Remind me again about who is racist?
The slave doesn’t dream of being free, he dreams of being Master.
The presidential candidate then elaborated, saying she supports Rep. Sheila Jackson Lees (D-TX) commission to study reparations.
This sidesteps the issue. How easy is it, for anyone to say, yes, let’s study an issue. She’s in favor of studying this matter, without committing to any specific course of action.
What about the war on poverty and affirmative action, civil rights laws, fair housing laws, etc.?? I think the fact that we have made great strides in making up for the sins of the past, needs to be taken into account when talking of “reparations” or what society is supposed to do to absolve ourselves of this “sin” of slavery at our founding.
We need to address how were going to do it ”
We’re not.
I think so. Concentration camps, and not of the fantasy variety.
We are not in arrears to former slaves. We do not owe their descendants one thin dime for the work of others long dead even if we did. Screw them.
