Barr can't pass the buck on Epstein
CNN ^ | Aug 13 2019 | Elie Honig

When Attorney General William Barr said he was "appalled" and "angry" after Jeffrey Epstein's apparent suicide at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan, you'd almost have thought Barr himself bore no responsibility. He spoke of "serious irregularities" and "demanded" an investigation -- as if he were some outside observer incapable of simply ordering an investigation himself.

Listening to him pour fire and brimstone on the rank-and-file who run the jail, you almost have to wonder: Has Barr taken a look at his org chart recently? Because the Metropolitan Correctional Center is part of the Bureau of Prisons, which is part of the Justice Department, which Barr runs.

He is responsible for all of it. This happened in Barr's house. He doesn't get to stand outside, wag his finger, roll the blame downhill and call it a day.

Gotcha.

Let’s not go down fake roads.

Thank you.

POSSIBLE that lots of people on the right and left wanted epstein dead.

I don’t think ANY politician or powerful person misses him.

I'm getting a sense that Barr and the rest of the justice system are going slow walk this case and drag it out and "close ranks" on any revelations to save face for some big-time business leaders, politicians and high-profile mucky-mucks involved.

I think the real power behind the power in this country is above Barr and the DOJ's pay grade. Barr and the DOJ aren't the ones calling the shots here.

I believe the first step in this process was to murder Epstein and make it look like a suicide before he went to court and spilled the beans on these powerful folks.

The second step will be for the FBI to bungle the investigation, which won't be a shock since their reputation is enmeshed in a scandal right now. They will lose or destroy evidence in an attempt to tamp down the damage this case will cause. They will not find significant evidence on the island because it was cleaned out before they decided to go there.

The third step is to lose track of Epstein's ex-girlfriend and pimp, Ghislaine Maxwell. She should have been arrested by now, especially after Epstein's demise. She's staged two phony sightings recently to throw people off her scent. She's gone to ground, as they say. She's at risk for a future "suicide" too.

And the final steps will be to throw some small fries under the bus and throw them in the pokey for a while, like the jailers and warden and some lesser knowns.

Then maybe one or two well-known but not that important pedophile guys, like a Prince Andrew or an Alan Dershowitz, as well. This is needed to satisfy and appease the girls who were trafficked, molested and abused by Epstein and the names on his client list. Also because some of them are suing in court.

And all of this will happen in plain sight, right before our eyes. The fix is in and this scandal will burn brightly for awhile and then the flame will begin to sputter and eventually flicker out. Case closed. Move on.

I gotta say it’s like you’ve seen this movie before.

God knows what threats were thrown that guards’ way to skip a beat that night.

I don’t think they were bribed.

I could be wrong but I think fear would work better than some money.

I don't know what the guards did to allow this to happen but it doesn't really matter.

They did it for money, out of fear for their lives, out of laziness or ineptitude, whatever, but it's too late. Epstein's already dead. And I think he was killed by design and did not commit self-suicide.

I just believe that people far more powerful than the AG, or even the president, are driving this bus and throwing people under the wheels as they become expendable. They're trying to save their asses. Pretty powerful motivator by itself.

I don't believe folks can see the forest for the trees on this one. Very powerful people behind the scenes are doing what they have to do to keep their names and reputations out of the media and the courts. That means they are not following the law. They are rogue.

They are in a sticky wicket but they will stem the flow and cauterize the wound. Not everyone will escape scrutiny but many will.

The public wants blood but I'm afraid with Epstein (the horse's mouth) dead, all they'll get are some bones.

You are right. More powerful people than Barr are pulling the strings.

Reminds me of the cover of the Godfather CD with the puppet strings.

I am appalled that Barr let Epstein die under his watch. He was only in there 5 weeks.

Yes I did. Rush pointed out the photos were taken 15 years apart but you don’t grow a hook nose. The body looked pretty pink for being dead a few hours. Why was he in orange when standard color is supposedly brown. Do SHU prisoners wear orange?

“ Like Barr has time to micro-manage every prison in the US 24 hours a day. He has no other duties. Where do these bozos come from. They don’t have a clue. They just throw stones at everyone they don’t like. The Democrats ONLY platform consists of “Beat Trump”. That’s it. They’re divided on the other stuff.”

Are you having second thoughts about defending Barr over Epstein’s death in Barr’s custody?

“ If epstein really did have the goods on so many politicians and captains of industry, Barr should have personally ordered extra security for the creep and kept daily tabs.”

Today everybody’s a Barr critic. But it wasn’t always so. Unlike a lot of GOP sheeple, you were honest and bold enough to call out Barr after he let Epstein die on his watch. My compliments
