North Carolina's Dem governor vetoes bill requiring police cooperation with ICE on illegal immigrants
In vetoing a bill calling for better state and local cooperation with U.S. immigration authorities, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper is favoring the interests of illegal immigrants over basic public safety, the state's Republicans argued Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, Cooper, a Democrat, nixed a proposal that would have made it mandatory for state and local law enforcement to comply with detainer requests from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Under the plan, sheriffs offices and other law enforcement departments would have been required to hold detainees who are illegal immigrants until ICE personnel could come retrieve them. Those who did not honor the requests would have been subject to dismissal, The Wall Street Journal reported.

North Carolina no longer produces much tobacco
Much of the acerage now produces cotton
Denial isn’t just a river in Egypt. I don’t think most people realize how close the Carolinas are to becoming blue states. Georgia, also. It’s now 10%+ Hispanic and faces the same blue state transplant issues.
We did what we could. I’m still not convinced that voter fraud didn’t hand both Cooper and Stein the Governer’s office and AG office to them both as well as three Sheriff’s offices to minorities who I figure will do the water carrying for the communists and muslims. There are so many illegals in NC and the dems plan to keep it that way.
You elected him, North Carolina.
Its not just Mecklenburg. The Sheriff’s in Meck, Guilford, Durham and Wake all oppose cooperating with ICE!
“Denial isnt just a river in Egypt.”
The Republican Party in NC should be called the denial party. My 75 year old GOP Congresswoman behaves like we are living in the first term of George W. Bush, not 2019. If the Democrats would run a young pretend moderate with military credentials, or a respectable and safe appearing middle aged business person they could have the 5th District in a walk. Fortunately they continue to run weak leftist candidates.
Burr and Tillis have been major disappointments. Burr is pure establishment, a Karl Rove puppet. Tillis seems to have fully embraced the establishment in DC. His office won’t answer a letter and he seems to have no strong convictions. A halfway decent Democrat candidate who doesn’t come across as Marianne Williamson or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will take the Senate seat from Tillis next year.
