The name’s the same, but the reality isn’t. There is no way for “Germany” to apologize to “Poland.” The vicious aggressors are dead or hiding in Argentina. The victims are dead or aging.
Same goes for slavery. The participants are all dead. Just don’t let it ever happen again! Learn from the past!
I see the apology as a courtesy. No reparations more from Germany.
The graciousness in which the Germans acknowledge the evils their grandfathers did make them far more appreciated.
