Fantastic performance of one of later Chicago's best songs: Call On Me, performed by Leonid and Friends, from Ukraine.

The lovely female is Ksenia Buzina. The others are:

Serge Tiagnyriadno, lead vocal
Igor Javad, drums
Sergey Kashirin, guitar, backup vocal
Vlad Senchillo, Rhodes piano
Andrey Zyl, trumpet
Maxim Likhachev, trombone
Oleg Kudryavtcev, tenor sax
Rei Frometa, other percussion

One of my favorite Chicago songs, fantastic cover rendition. Must be heard to be believed.

I feel justified in putting this in “News” because it came out today, September 10 2019, and because there is a “culture” category under “News.”

Their version of “What’s The World Coming To” cooks.

Jimmy Hendrix lauded Terry Kath’s guitar skills in 1967. Chicago was a huge success yet the critics preferred Springsteen for example.

These Russians rock. I wish they would tour the US more.

The “Sergey” that plays lead guitar is every bit as good as Terry Kath.

Probably right up to Chicago VII, they were as good as any band on the planet. Say what you will about Cetera, but the guy could play bass with anyone.

I know. Hendrix listened to him when they were rehearsing in a studio next to the one Hendrix rented, and he said "your guitarist is better than me."

Hearing that story gave me an insight into what a cool guy Jimmy Hendrix must have been. A lot of people liked him, both here and in London.

Been jamming on Leonid & Friends since early on, and bought one of their “albums”. They’ve been on US tours twice, but I’ve missed both. They actually came near Houston this year, but the ticket prices were ridiculous for a cover band, so I passed.

October in concert Miami Valley Casino Between Cinti & Dayton. Better than the current Chicago lineup.

Just saw them last month at Penn’s Peak in the Poconos. Venue was close to a sellout and they really fed off the energy of the crowd. They’re back in the USA this fall too.

Holy S%%%^^%%$%T! I can’t believe what I just saw and heard. That was flat out incredible! If I was not viewing the video and only heard the music, I’d have bet a LOT, (and lost), that that was the original Chicago version of ‘Call on Me’, one of my all time favorites from the golden summer of 1974. Chicago Transit Authority’s first double album, thru #7, were my favorite band/music in that era. I’d love to hear them do ‘Byblos’ from the same album.

My favorite is “A Hit By Varese” from Chicago V, love to hear them do that one.

We will have to agree to disagree ‘2k.....NOBODY is/was/will ever be, Terry Kath’s equal on guitar!

Frickin' heroin. By all accounts, when he wasn't under the influence, Jimi was a good guy. And contrary to what most believe, his performance of "The Star Spangled Banner" at Woodstock, was not meant as a protest of the Vietnam War, in fact, Jimi was staunchly anti-Communist.

I'm inclined to agree. He was as good on rhythm as he was on lead. Fantastic voice. He could have had a great solo career.

Just curious, where is the guarantee that group isn't just lip syncing to a Chicago sound track?

After all, anything is possible on the internet...

Dittos to that! GEAT vocalist! Go to YouTube and listen to ‘Byblos’, (written and sung by Terry). His soul comes through loud and clear big time! There will never be one like him again.

I don't know, personally I think this performance is a valid entry under the "culture" category of choices under News | General Interest as listed in the Posting New Thread page of Free Republic.

If you think your cat spitting out a hairball is a cultural event, I suppose it might belong in News as defined by yourself.

If you like, you're free to hit the "abuse" button and explain to the moderator why this thread should be otherwise classified. Your choice.
