Thanks for those links and for your time in gathering and posting. Very informative. If I have a vacant house, it is my right to determine how that house is used. As long as I keep up the property and landscaping and pay the property taxes when due, the gvt has no right to control my decisions.

I agree with you. This is clearly an invasion of property owner rights. And it’s another reason I’m glad I don’t live in CA.

We had a vacant house (which we inherited). Rather than renting it out and having it either trashed or turned into a meth production factory, we just kept it up (getting the grass cut and kept in a good state of repair) and left it empty, until such time as we decided to sell it. Sometimes making a few rental dollars isn’t worth the hassle and the bother to others in the neighborhood by moving in a nuisance on them.
