So we have to surrender our rights in order to save the planet.

- those rights will NEVER come back.

Do people really believe this hypoebolic feverswamp crap? Being talked out of their future? When I was young, there was the story of Chicken Little.

Why is there not wide spread suspicion of the Global Warmist agenda? Follow the money, and the Marxism.

Indeed. Equality of opportunity is the key to a better life for everyone. I try to read socialist drivel like this article, and my mind ends up tied in knots by the illogic and utter disregard of human nature. If you remove the profit motive, then where is the incentive for anyone to embark on a multi-year course of study in a highly technical field like medicine? After removing any incentive to study medicine, where are the doctors going to come from to deliver, as the article put it, the basic health-care needs every citizen has a right to?

I once saw a French movie, "Mai 1968," about the socialist upheavals that occurred in France during that time. In one scene, some university students were home visiting their families during a vacation. They were all excited about socialism and prattled on and on about the wonderful society that could be achieved under socialism. Everyone would have everything they need, and no one would ever have to do a job they don't want. After listening to them blather for a few minutes, their grandfather finally said, "But then, who is going to collect the trash?"

And that is the pertinent question for anyone who thoughtlessly parrots socialist utopianarianism propaganda: Who is going to collect the trash?

It did.

I’m not sure how to debate someone who could type such a statement after the cultural revolution, and decades of rigidly enforced one child policy, and the open practice of imprisoning political and religious dissenters and butchering prisoners to sell their organs.

Not that you are in anyway unique of course. I run into people unable to comprehend what China is and who blind themselves to what socialism openly plans in order to defend socialists all the time.

Are you perhaps a pastor?

When will a few states get together and decide the “Union” is not worth it?

In other words, Marxism.

The only people for this ridiculous “degrowth” idea are those with secure government funded jobs.

Re: Equity

In that specific sentence, I think equity probably means “ownership” (like equity in your home) rather than “equality.”

The basis of Socialism is common ownership of the means of production.

It's too early for comedy for me. I'm still on my first cup of coffee...

Depopulate wouldn’t be a bad idea. Just ship all the liberals, marxists, and mooselimbs to Mars. We have to figure out how to make Mars livable quickly...

They are advocating a wealth tax. That goes well beyond owning the means of production, that is a drive for equality. This is not a matter best analyzed through the application of semantics, these people want equality, whatever they call it.

This is totally phony pseudo science that is going to justify the most massive miss allocation of resources in the history of the world

This philosophy is built on a totally false assumption that is the opposite of true reality and basing public policy on this philosophy will result an inability to sustain the worlds growing population.

The result will be massive depopulation when the system becomes unsustainable via the approach pioneered by Joseph Stalin in the Ukraine

BTW, if you really, truly believe cutting carbon emissions is a crisis vital to saving humanity, then solar cells and wind turbines are an existential threat to the survival of humanity because that would mean that solar cells and wind turbines supercharge global warming and push climate change into overdrive.

This is because it takes significantly more energy ( ie tons of coal burned) to manufacture the current generation of solar cells and most wind turbines than these devices will generate over their predicted 20 year life cycles ( which not all meet, BTW).

In other words, you have to burn 2 tons of coal in one year to manufacture a solar array that will produce the cumulative equivalent electricity produced one ton of coal over its 20 year life - if the solar array actually manages to live that long.

So the choice in power generation between coal fired power generation and solar cells is effectively to burn 2 TONS of coal with massive carbon dioxide emissions in one year , or burn 50 POUNDS of coal per year with 1/40 the carbon dioxide emissions to supply the same amount of coal fired power produced by that solar array .

Since carbon dioxide gas is part of the Biological Carbon Cycle ( not taught in PC schools these days because it destroys the narrative) it is much easier for the environment to recycle the CO2 generated by burning 50 lbs of coal per year than it is to deal with the burning of the 2 tons in one tear that it takes to manufacture the solar array

Bottom line - solar power releases about forty times more CO2 into the atmosphere per kilowatt upfront and twice as much over 20 years as a coal fired power plant so if CO2 emissions are an existential threat then coal fired power plants are the solution to saving the planet

More so because most solar cells are made in China using power from some of the dirtiest and most inefficient coal fired plants on earth - many of them were crappy and obsolete plants transplanted from the old Warsaw Pact countries after the collapse of the Soviet Union . That’s just the tip of the iceberg on the ecological disaster of unregulated toxic cell production in China

Totally serious about this and even the most basic thermodynamic analysis proves this beyond any doubt

It was literally my Engineering 101 class back in the day. Class was taught by a fairly brilliant and well rounded thermodynamics Prof who wanted to point out the basic fallacy and unworkability of the proposed solutions to the manufactured “ oil crisis” which soon evolved into a full scale “energy crisis” back in the day when we were similarly hoaxed into believing the mass delusion that the world was in imminent threat of running out of fossil fuels

Yup, we were all told we were going to freeze, starve and die back then because we were told we faced the existential threat of running out sources of energy - despite the fact that there was undeniable proof we had enough known coal reserves to last for several hundred years and that coal could be converted to fuels by the Fischer -Tropsch process. We also knew that both were irrelevant because Nuclear power was a far more efficient and cost effective way to produce power than dirty, polluting smoke stack coal plants

And yet we were being told by our leaders that we were all facing an existential energy crisis and we were doomed unless we “did something” . Nobody knew exactly what that something was, but they did know that it was absolutely vital that something be done straight away. If we did not absolutely do that “something” right away, terrible things would happen and the world would enter a new dark age

The people who are driving policy are fully aware of the truth of this basic reality which demonstrates that they are also fully aware that the carbon scare is a hoax and that the true agenda is not about saving the planet from some imagined carbon driven climate crisis

They are also just as fully aware that the “Green Economy” is an unworkable fraud based on a fundamentally false premise that converting to solar cells and wind turbines eliminates burning of fissile fuels.

Not only do solar cells and wind turbines not eliminate the burning of fossil fuels, they vastly increase the burning of coal and natural gas for the very simple and patently obvious fact that coal or gas fired power plants produce the energy that is used to manufacture solar cells and wind turbines.

The day you see policy makers advocating a massive commitment to a crash program to convert the worlds economy to next generation technology nuclear power plants is the day you will know that carbon dioxide driven global warming is actually a real threat
