An alleged robber with an “assault rifle” was killed Tuesday by a good guy with a gun in an Apple store in Dallas, Texas.
Fox News reports the suspect allegedly walked in about 2:30 a.m., through a door that was open for construction personnel to enter and exit.
The suspect was described as being armed with an “assault rifle” and wearing body armor. He was shot and fatally wounded after unsuccessfully attempting to disarm the store’s security guard.
A Dallas Police press release summarized the incident:
The suspect, described as an adult Black male, attempted to disarm the security officer but was unsuccessful. The security officer was able to pull his weapon and fired multiple times striking the suspect. The suspect ran for a short distance and collapsed in the rear alley. The responding officers administered aid to the suspect prior to his transport to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
CBS DFW published an Apple statement on the incident: “The loss of life is a tragedy and we are grateful that no one else was involved. Apple cares deeply about the safety of our customers and employees and we are committed to providing a secure environment for all who enter our stores.”

Yes. Apple stores have, by far, the highest “value per square foot” of any general retail store (>$6000/mo revenue/ft^2, next store is ~$2000). If not actually locked, they need armed security on site precisely because of hits like this.

A good start on arormed opponents is to hit them somewhere fast, and while the eye/nose area of the head is a good ( best) place to hit to obtain a quick stop, it is also the hardest and smallest... plus it wont be stationary even if at close/contact range.
Perhaps a good technique is to hit the lower torso multiple times quickly, then focusing on a CNS shot either to the eye/nose area or the top of the T ( the neck/clavicle region).
Getting hits fast is critical in stopping a lethal threat, getting the best hit may take some doing.
Once free of a grapple, either press hard forward or move laterally off line to take the advantage.
Getting inside the others OODA loop is taking the advantage.

Local Dallas news says the guard was a retired Dallas police officer. The thug chose poorly.
Reports of people wearing body armor are almost always wrong. 9 out of 10 times it's just a tactical vest with lots of cool looking pouches and velcro, but no kevlar or plates.
Two to the chest, head gets the rest.
Doubt the guy had level IV, *maybe* level 3, I was thinking it’s just Kevlar, like a flexible police vest.
But yeah, big fat slow pistol rounds are generally stopped by L3, and certainly L4 armour.
