Fort Worth police announced at a news conference Monday that the officer who shot and killed a woman in her home Saturday has resigned.
Interim Police Chief Ed Kraus identified the officer as Aaron Dean, a man who has served about 18 months with the Fort Worth police. Kraus said he was going to fire the officer had he not resigned Monday morning.
Kraus said a criminal investigation is ongoing and he expects to release an update by Tuesday. The FBI also has been briefed to investigate possible civil rights violations, he said.

He needs to serve at least 18 years in TDC (Texas Department of Corrections).
I’m very much a supporter of our Boy’s in Blue but after seeing the edited bodycam and reading the text of the shooting from FWPD, this was a horrible shoot...
There were numerous ways to have de-escalated this event...
This officer needs to be prosecuted for manslaughter.....
The cop murdered a woman in her own home without even a single warning or knock......................he should get the max.................
What little I know about this shooting suggests to me that it’s *really* bad.
Did not see the word ‘white’ in the article...no pic of cop...hmmmm (unless I overlooked something)
Shooting into an occupied home is horrible and the policeman should have known better.
But this has nothing to do with race, only dangerous stupidity.
Oh ! Your right.
Where it’s humid like that, it is a good idea to open up and let things inside dry out when the weather is decent. A little “fresh air” is good for a home to help prevent mold and mildew.
Agreed. He resigned because his job was history the moment he pulled the trigger. If he remained on the force he could be forced to appear and talk to the board. Not answering questions per his attorney or the one he will get, because he is going to be charged with manslaughter at least, 2nd degree murder quite possibly.
My bet, he had his finger on the trigger and when startled BANG! Poor woman paid the price for his stupidity and poor training.
It is... A search on here will will get you the video...
Looks like a repeat of the Minneapolis shooting. Another example of people given badges who were not police material.
Yep, close... Saw someone through the window inside from outside the house, yelled “Put your hands up!, let me see BANG your hands”.
Agreed...
But WTH does violated civil rights mean?
I’m guessing it means the person (and I do feel bad) who was shot was black.
Forgive me for being cynical. I could very much be wrong.

Really wasn’t much of an event to de-escalate. Neighbor calls non-emergency police number and ask if they’d check to see if the people inside were okay because the door was left open. As far as I can tell, the only event was the officer’s shooting of the occupant.
When they released the video of the incident (1) they said didn’t release any video inside the house because they couldn’t for privacy reasons, and (2) showed a picture of a gun at the end of the video, which was likely taken inside the house, and probably had nothing to do with the shooting.
So there was an attempt to cover this up.
Or, it could just mean that one has a civil right not to be shot by an agent of the government if one is doing nothing wrong or even suspicious.
And WHAT IS YOUR ANSWER to it not being brought EVERY SINGLE TIME THAT HAPPENS?
And I thought the Founding Fathers wanted the STATES to have the power.
Isn’t the FBI a FEDERAL ENTITY?
WOW even any of the “conservatives” here aren’t really conservative anymore
