Both Mc Carthy and Mc connell should tell nancy whatever they are doing in secret and planning to release on Nov 18th about the president is bordering on treason and will be DOA for any consideration for action or vote by repubs in either house. Separately, because it was prepared in such a manner of secrecy, it may be consider as an act of, or an attempt of a coup de-tat against the govt and the President! She is for warned! THEY ARE NOT BEING TOUGH ENOUGH UP FRONT - THEY SHOULD DARE HER NOW AND TELL HER IT IS DEAD ON ARRIVAL NOW!
So, just sit back and let the Democrats control the story for weeks.
Here's what's going to happen, I believe. For the next couple of weeks, the Democrats will continue to hold these closed door hearings, letting the Republicans whine toothlessly about them not holding a vote or having public hearings, but not doing anything else. Then, sometime around mid November, they're going to hold that vote to open actual impeachment hearings and it's going to pass. Then they're going to start holding televised hearings based on what they've already got on the record from the closed hearings and those are going to go up until the holiday break. They may or may not hold a vote for impeachment by that time. The idea is to let that story just sit through the holidays while the House and Senate are on break.
I don’t think he went far enough. I don’t see that he added a final paragraph in the “be it resolved” section that failure to do these things would result in any penalty.
Since House and Senate are co-equal, he doesn’t have authority over them, but he does have authority to say what will and won’t be done on the issue in the Senate if House don’t do things fairly. On TV last night he did say the Senate wouldn’t act on anything, but that wasn’t included in his Resolution. (Did I miss it, or was he blowing sunshine up my skirt yesterday?)
If that’s the dems idea, its dumb. It will backfire bigly.

The court here is public opinion. The best strategy here always offense. Attack the coupists before they have a chance to gaslight their narrative in the media and pivot in whatever direction they choose.

The Senate really doesn't have any power to correct a dysfunctional House, any more than the House has the power to correct a dysfunctional Senate - no matter how harmful to the institutions or the public the dysfunction becomes.
And as far as impeachment goes, the Senate has no role at all unless the House walks over articles of impeachment.
A that point the case is all "it depends" on the contents of the impeachment articles.
And nothing stops the Senate from conducting a sham trial either. Wouldn't be the first sham perpetrated by the government against the public.

The GOP can always find a good reason for the GOP to do nothing. Here the idea is floated that the Dems really won’t impeach. The impeachment circus is just starting. With the Senate GOP green lighting their star chamber the Dems and their Deep State co-conspirators have no reason to stop.
Read it many years ago along with the rest of the Constitution. It takes no Senate votes to impeach, 67 votes to convict.

Yeah? When is that going to start happening? Even Rasmussen, consistently his most favorable poll and one that Trump himself has cited, shows him down 5 points in the last week.
John Rogers will preside over the trial and can be expected to be a stickler for running it correctly.

CJ presiding still has almost no control, except for dealing with intemperate outbursts by Senators. The trial rules are set by the Senate, not by the CJ.
