Oracle Corp. is pulling the plug on its annual San Francisco technology convention, relocating the event to Las Vegas in a major blow to the city's hospitality industry.

The Redwood Shores company has signed a three-year agreement to bring its OpenWorld convention to the Caesars Forum in Las Vegas, citing rising hotel rates throughout the Bay Area as well as poor street conditions in San Francisco. An Oracle spokesperson confirmed the deal, first reported by CNBC.

Nice going SF. Lose a huge convention hosted by one of Silicon Valley's oldest and most prestigious companies. Rather deal with illegals handing out stripper ads on the LV Strip than running the gauntlet of drug addicted addicts and poop on Market Street in SF.

This year while attending Oracle OpenWorld, I was walk down 4th street when this person (can assume gender in SF even though this person had testicles on display), dropped their jeans, squatted and started to defecate. He was immediately surrounded by five of the SFPD’s finest. Not to stop him but to shield him from the crowd on the sidewalk. I asked if they could stop such activity (or at least curb train) but was told that was a definite no. Fished, the pooper pulled up his jeans and scuttled away. The five cops had to guard the site until it could be cleaned. What a great use of SFPD personnel and the SF city council thinks the only reason the officers do not live in their city limits is solely due to housing costs.

I attend about a dozen industry conferences per year.

CA, NY, MD, and DC are all on my do-not-travel list.

Can you imagine what the show “Streets Of San Francisco” would be like today? Great show in its day!

Republicans need to run ads here. Hit Frisco hard and even accuse them in the ad for letting this happen because of their failed ideology.

My tech son quit going to company paid seminars and conventions in SF two years ago.

The piles of sh_t and people pissing on the sidewalk isn’t worth the trip.

“Can you imagine what the show “Streets Of San Francisco” would be like today? Great show in its day!”

Nash Bridges starring Don Johnson and Cheech Marin was good in its day as well with lots of San Fran scenery.

They lost the AMA (American Medical Assoc.) prior to this. The AMA had been having their conventions in SFO for decades. Lots of money for hotels, restaurants, touristey things. That was a lot of money taken away from SFO's budget.

Seattle is going the same way; and, I am sure that they will be seeing businesses pulling out of that city as well. Seattle does a lot of business from cruise ships stopping at the port.

After the documentary done on this earlier this year (Seattle Is Dying), the city of Seattle has been trying to clean up the streets an bit. But, still not enough.

It helps that it is true. It took a while for me to realize; but, policy differences are ao important. Obama failed and Trump is succeeding outrageously. Difference? Obama's policies were wrong; Trump's policies are positive and right!

It is not a product of "privilege"; it is a product of "policy".

The last time I was at one of these Oracle parties was in 2003 or 04 and it was in San Fran. Oracle always went first class back then and I suppose that they still do.

I know Larry Ellison is probably not directly involved in the day to day operation of Oracle, as one of the Oracle founders he probably had some say in this change and he was always a big promoter of SF.

When the shit on the street gets knee deep, it might be time to change locations.
