Iowa Dems Release New Statement Trying to Explain What Went Wrong
Townhall ^ | 02/04/2020 | Cortney O'Brien

Posted on 02/04/2020 7:41:46 AM PST by SeekAndFind

It's not a good morning for Iowa Democrats. They are trying to do damage control the morning after one of the most disastrous election nights in recent memory. Hours after the Hawkeye State voting ended, and there are still no results. The only thing we do know, is that the Democrats really bungled this process.

In in their new statement Tuesday morning, the party tried to give some kind of an explanation as to what the bleep happened. It was not any kind of cyber intrusion, they admit. It was purely technical incompetence.

NEW statement from @iowademocrats -- "While the app was recording data accurately, it was reporting out only partial data. We have determined that this was due to a coding issue in the reporting system." pic.twitter.com/kOXdcvggoe— Maura Barrett (@MauraBarrettNBC) February 4, 2020

"As part of our investigation, we determined with certainty that the underlying data collected via the app was sound," the statement reads. "While the app was recording data accurately, it was reporting out only partial data. We have determined that this was due to a coding issue in the reporting system. This issue was identified and fixed. The application's reporting issue did not impact the ability of precinct chairs to report data accurately."

The Democrats assure voters that they "have been able to verify that the data recorded in the app and used to calculate State Delegate Equivalents is valid and accurate."

However, at the end of the note they write that while their plan is to release results today, they leave some wiggle room in case that doesn't actually happen.

"While our plan is to release results as soon as possible today, our ultimate goal is to ensure that the integrity and accuracy of the process continues to be upheld."

There were ~1700 caucus locations with what? Half a dozen candidates in the running?

A folding table with 4 people with decent laptops with Excel spreadsheets tabulating results could have handled this. Make it two folding tables with 8 people to cut the time down.

This is crookedness + incompetence on full display.

Putin should offer the services of Russian observers to maintain the integrity of the Democrat primaries.

We have determined that this was due to a coding issue in the reporting system."

Translation: DNC forgot to activate the code algorithm to discount Bernie votes.”

All you need to know is in the clip below. This guy is so focused on BS-ing with Wolf Blitzer about how bad it is he loses his chance to report when they finally come on line.

The problem is, Democrats are idiots!

“Really”?

Yep. A few days ago another glitch left Mayor Pete out of a “major” survey.

Another attempt to pump up Joe by stuffing the other candidates ?

“...it was reporting out only partial data......”

That is exactly how those who manipulate election results operate. The computer is coded so that only the favored candidate’s votes are reported. Or, in this case, Sanders votes are suppressed.

If actual total is for Bernie, compute reported total = actual total times .8
If actual total is for Biden, compute repoted total = actual total x 1.2

I think you'll be off a bit to the total counts....

But the dems wouldn't catch it
Maybe Biden_Votes = ((Biden_Votes) + (Bernie_Votes * .2))
Bernie_votes = (Bernie_Votes * .8)

A simple fail-safe should have been to have an offical tally sheet, and each site has a designated person with a special number, text a photo of the official tally sheet to a central HQ.

How dumb was it to leave this whole thing out via an app that has not been used before?

That is ALREADY in social media.

“Trump paid the Russians to hack the democrats”, but it is competing against, “The Russians paid Trump to hack the democrats.”

I agree with that theory. I have been waiting for some news event to trigger a “go” for the news that Biden came in 5th place, and Warren in 4th. Bernie at 40%, which would scare the hell out of the “Clinton Wing”? Surely there has to be some new Trump dirt that can be slung out (held back for just an occasion).

How hard would it be for Bernie to release his numbers. He MUST have had at least one person in each room who was writing down the total for that room? Get those numbers together. Release the results.

Unless, of course, the results for Bernie aren’t that great.

Maybe Tulsi won.

Maybe Trump won (as originally suggested by Ann Archy)

Ancient coding(~1960s) best practices dictate that you never test a brand new system in a production environment. You always, always run the old system and test the new system along side of it to make sure it covers all possible cases and that some unknown bug doesn't bring down the whole system. This is a well known lesson that prevents this kind of thing, yet we saw the same thing with the Obamacare web site roll out. My guess is that too many young people on a project with little practical experience working with actual live systems. It should be a lesson to them that this is exactly how socialism would work with the economy--see Venezuela.

It could also be that because they believe that "diversity is a strength" that they put a bunch of people in charge with no actual experience even completing a coding project, which would lead to total disaster, since the code might not have been tested at all and my not even have been finished on going live day. That would be an even worse failure, because once you go live with incomplete or bad code, the pressure to fix it will burn out everyone and the project will never be done(ie Obamacare web page, they eventually had to take code from someone else to get it working).

Trump dirt is fiction, so I’m not interested in what it is, but yes they’ll have to get their stories straight before they admit that radical communist Bernie has more support from their crazy loser base than gropey Joe
