Why Trump has already secured a second term — no matter who his opponent is
The Hill ^ | February 18, 2020 | SHARYL ATTKISSON

I’m not a professional political analyst, so my political analysis is worth about what you pay for it. However, a few people who know that I called Donald Trump as the 2016 winner, starting back in 2015, have asked me what I think now.

My prediction for the 2016 race was based on a variety of observational and anecdotal evidence. I listened to Democrats, Republicans and independents across the U.S. I talked to people who consider themselves apolitical. I heard from taxi and Uber drivers, the Verizon man, stay-at-home moms, college grads, professionals, blue-collar delivery workers. And I watched nearly every rally of Trump and his opponents.

Now, that same unscientific methodology has led me to conclude that Trump has already secured a second term — no matter who his main opponent turns out to be.

Here are seven ways I think Trump has already secured a second term:

More experience. Trump is the only candidate who has served as president and commander in chief for four years.

Extreme vetting. Trump has been as thoroughly vetted as any political figure in American history, if not more so.

The sky didn’t fall. Some Republicans worried that Trump would be too liberal in practice; some independents were wary. Economists predicted the stock market would immediately crash

No surprises. Trump has proven to be exactly as he advertised. He has gone from being an unknown to being quite predictable, like him or not.

He’s a proven survivor. Not much new can be thrown at Trump that will shake his support.

Height. Trump is taller than any of the likely Democrat nominees.

But today, if I were betting, all my money would have to be on another Trump victory.

hg, I don’t know if you’re becoming a bigger ass, or if I more fully appreciate the ass you already are.

That, standing on his tip toes, was the end of Jeb’s career.
What a jerk! He is slightly taller than President DJT. Why make it look as if he is taller? “Vanity of Vanities, all is Vanity.” (Ecclesiastes)

Jeb’s loss meant that we will not be speaking Spanish in my lifetime. OK as my governor, here in Florida, but a bust on the National scene. Retire the Bush Family, “thanks but no thanks.”
Check out GHW Bush and the nasty CIA that became his legacy!

You’re right. We all need to vote straight “R” up and down the ticket.

Democrats know how to run attractive conservative type in red districts... then when elected those folks have ZERO power... their only purpose is to be a place holder - allowing democrats to take the House.

I’d like to know if it’s better to vote R by checking ‘each’ candidate or check straight R ticket? Which way would have least chance of being tampered with?

I think height has only been important after Roosevelt who was 6’ 2. Before him there were fewer photographs, no TV and only a few movies. So height was not known by most. And remember women could not vote before 1920. JFK, Kennedy, LBJ, Reagan, GHWB, Clinton, Obama and Trump were all over 6 foot 1 inch. With most of the other recent presidents being at or slightly below 6 foot. The presidential average height in the TV era is decidedly above the average American male.

Trump has won, but it is as much about Bernie Sanders as it is Trump.

The Democratic Party has a crisis. They cheated Sanders out of the nomination in 2016. His supporters dug in and have been working the grass roots since them to make him their Party Presidential candidate.

If the party doesn't nominate Sanders they will self destruct as the Sanders supporters will take it as a sign of cheating. Most will go 3rd party than allow “their candidate” to be cheated a second time. And yet the Democratic Party elite get to vote in the second round at the convention. They don't want a non-Democrat who caucuses with the Democrats, they want a Democrat that will play the game the right way. That is why Hillary appealed to them in 2016 and Biden early in this race.

The Super Delegates know that Biden can't win, they also know that they can't turn over the internal power of the Party to Sanders for his control. Whatever choice they make will destroy the Democratic Party and nay chance to win in 2020.

It is over, Trump will win by a landslide. We all need to stay fired up and vote, but Trump will win.

Blacks stood in lines for 4 hours in Detroit to vote for Obama both times ....they will NOT come out for lil creepy mike....never happen.

Which is why bloomberg (or whoever the dem nominee is) will choose a black - likely female - VP candidate in order to ensure some "color" on the ticket to energize the black voting base. Hopefully that will not be enough to get obama-like numbers for the dems.

You don’t think they would stoop to hacking her computer while she was trying to investigate Fast and Furious?

That’s a bit cute in itself.

Some Republicans worried that Trump would be too liberal in practice

That was actually my initial fear. Of course, compared to the danger of the Arkansas mafia moving back into the White House again, it paled in comparison. During the primaries though, initial thoughts were that he might well be a lot more liberal than he was claiming. Turns out not to be the case for the most part. Thankfully.

lol, He does remind me of my 5 pound Yorkie who growls and runs towards the bull next-door.
Trump would be the bull :-)

Excellent analogy!

If you think the Demonicrats and the fifth-column leftist media have played dirty in the last three years, just wait until we get near November. Demonicrat vote fraud and voter intimidation will be just the tip of the iceberg.

They’ve already been committing hate crimes on each other.

They’re violently desperate.

There appears to have been a sizable Sanders vote for Trump when they got hosed in the last fake Dem primary.

Support from Sanders followers seems strongly related to how blatantly the Dems disenfranchise them.

“We will see if fifty billion can buy the job.. Might have to watch Bloomy tomorrow night...”

indeed ... on both accounts ... the big question about the debate is whether the other candidates really lay into farmer mike, and if so, does he manage to handle it or just look like the nimrod he really is ...

“The Tiny Tyrant will buy the nomination. He’ll probably buy off Bernie to get him to go away quietly.”

In 2016 Hillary and crew pushed Bernie out and rewarded him with nice mansion.

Current count, three houses and about 8 million dollars.

She [Sheryl] seems to be earnest, clear headed and clear spoken.****

She is a good reporter and researcher and I hope she wins her lawsuit against the government for when they got frightened about what she was revealing and messed with her.
