Hundreds of people gathered in San Francisco's Chinatown on Saturday to march against xenophobia caused by fears of the coronavirus outbreak.
Demonstrators carried signs that read "Chinatown open for business" and "United we stand together."
California Sen. Scott Wiener, D-San Francisco, tweeted a photo of the gathering, calling coronavirus a "serious public threat" and "not an invitation to racial stereotyping."
"Fight the virus not the people," he tweeted.

I can honestly say, that I haven’t altered my interactions with this or that group or race due to coronavirus. But I bet lots of leftists are publicly eating in Chinatown and holding hands, and privately showering with Clorox therafter.

While 12,000 will die from ordinary flu this season, if it is average season, many more if intense flu season. And the media is bent into a pretzel over 2 deaths from corona virus.
The only reason this person died is the indifference of Donald Trump, who probably laughed when he heard the news.
The only reason the novel coronavirus is spreading to other countries is because of gross mismanagement on the part of Donald Trump. Barack Obama would have invented a vaccine by now, and would have seen to it that his creation was distributed to all the peoples of the world, equally and without regard to race, religion, or creed, and completely free of charge.

Thank you, but I prefer a shot of almond liquor over doom and gloom frnzy in media over the corona virus which is killing a very small percentage of those who would have died from flu anyway.
Flu is endemic. If the Wuhan Virus becomes endemic it will kill many more than the flu, year after year. So let’s not let it become endemic. Failure to take necessary precautions to get through the measures that might be required to control this thing is foolish.
This disease would put an unsustainable burden on our medical infrastructure if allowed to run rampant. It would not be just another strain of flu, it would be in addition to the flu.
While the apocalyptics are overreacting, the complacents are probably doing more harm.
I heard from Dr Fauci (sic?) himself today on TV!....those who are most susceptible to COVID are exactly those who are most at risk to die from flu. Which means COVID will kill same people who would have died anyway from flu. Why then COVID any worse than the 12,000 average death EVERY YEAR from ordinary flu?
Are you really thinking United States will have more than 12,000 deaths from COVID this season? If yes, you need to be more realistic.

You can do web searches “(insert city name here) conferences cancelled” for updates.
Define the “season” for COVID-19 (”seasonality” not established yet...MERS for example doesn’t have one). If you are just talking about “per calendar year”, then COVID-19 becomes endemic like flu (44 million cases in the US in ‘17-’18), it is looking like it could go to 1.5 to 2x the “seriousness”/pneumonia/intubation/death rate of “common flu”...so 24,000 fatalities vs your 12,000 for common flu. (Although common flu kills more like 60,000 in th US in a “bad year”). The point is to prevent it becoming endemic with 44 million cases. And with current US testing doing that is “iffy”.

Let’s assume for the sake of argument that the CV will kill exactly the same demographic that would die from the flu. It still has a CFR 10-20 times that of the flu. We have a vaccine for the flu (yeah, hit or miss, I know) but not for CV (yet). This thing is more transmissible than the flu (flu well documented official R0 is 1.3, CV estimated to be around 6), more lethal than the flu (as stated above) and has stealth capabilities (can be transmitted by asymptomatic carriers).
So even if it was strictly limited to the same pool of victims, as “another flu”, it would kill many more of them, sicken many more of them and saturate and then overload our medical infrastructure.
However, it does not affect the same demographic, even if there is overlap. That is documented as well.
Based on what we’re seeing in first world medical systems, even with all the resources of a whole state or province or even country focused on this thing, they are only able to hold the CFR to about 2%. But it is still early and we should be able to get a handle on it if we don’t keep having our feet kicked out from under us by people that are afflicted by normalcy bias.

A group of people I hang out with, not political or anything related, just cancelled a convention in Iceland explicitly over the CV. Many of the people in this group are from different parts of the world. Americans and Canadians, Brits, Aussies and Kiwis, as well as people from other European countries, Russia, Turkey, Mexico, Japan, Brazil, India, Hong Kong, Israel, etc., etc. Pretty much everywhere in the world.
I wouldn’t have gone to the convention, anyway, but that is a side point. What is curious is that except for most of the Americans, Canadians, some Brits and some Aussies and Kiwis and a few Russians, all the people from these other countries have disappeared.
I’m sure that there are plenty of good reasons for this, but it sure is creepy, LOL.

They’re playing the race card, so it means they are out of other arguments. Maybe we can move on and get this dealt with.
