My apologies Woof.
There seems to be concern trolls everywhere.
My best friend is heading up the state response to the Corona virus for his healthcare company. He, personally, thinks that we should be much more worried about the regular flu. He is encouraged that the panicked response to Corona is leading people to do things that they should but don’t do during flu season - wash your hands, don’t go out if you are sick, cough into your elbow, etc. It is his opinion that this will save some people that would have ordinarily died of the regular flu.
BTW, as of Saturday morning, we still don’t have any confirmed cases in New Mexico. It seems that viruses don’t even want to live here.
apology accepted unreservedly. it is forgotten! I apologize for my own outburst. obv. some stress these days....
I think italy is the tell as far as a transparent country reporting stuff, in terms of what we might be in for here...
the death toll is what I think is more useful and important, as daily testing is subject to all kinds of other issues and changing criteria.conditions.etc. death rate will be adjusted upward if/when they hit ICU capacity. I would personally try a 3-day simple MA of their death toll and watch the doubling time over the next week. see if trend continues, data is so limited so far.
add on to that the question of whether the virus simply becomes endemic (permanent), like the cold or flu, and we have waves of seasonal outbreaks.
I want nothing more than to be wrong. I have family in central america that isn’t coming back here. that said, just not seeing it (wrong) yet and am seeing what I have been fearing since mid-late january, just a bit slower.
