President Donald Trump urged Americans not to hoard food on Sunday during a White House press conference that came just minutes after the Federal Reserve announced new steps to shield the U.S. economy from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

“You don’t have to buy so much,” Trump said. “Take it easy. Relax.”

People will undoubtedly wonder why we have 2 ten cubic feet of freezer space n those are not normally filled to the top with food. One is usually filled once a year with a couple hundred lbs of deer meat and feral hog. The other holds vaccum packed meats, fish, and veggies for every day consumption. However in times of crisis they serve as available space for two months each of frozen provisions. As they are tasked for at the present time. The hundred gallons of stabilised gasoline and 7000 watt genrac provides weeks of back up electric power for the freezers and fridges we have 3 fridges each with a freezer also completely full. The genrac runs off the natural gas grid until that fails then the hundred gallons in metal military grade fuel cans stabilized with fuel stabilizer kicks in. Prepped is a lifestyle choice it’s not something you do in a hurry by that time it’s too late.

I have enough for at least a couple of months of all those items...plus toothpaste, toothbrushes, clorox. Just plain common sense.

Wow! Haven’t been on here in a long time!
I have to say...the numbers just don’t warrant this type of panic and hype. Our economy and savings are being ruined by 69 deaths and something that may or may not even happen. I still think something else is going on. Like is the President really still in charge? Yeah...I have became paranoid mainly because I can’t believe how the people have just given in to all of this with those numbers! It’s scary! Think about it...it really makes zero sense!
About the virus....is this the way for China to get back at us for the Trade deals that I am sure they really didn’t want to make. I still don’t trust commies! I am looking for other opinions on these ideas from people who are freedom loving free thinkers. I hope there are some left after this whole ordeal. I can’t believe how quick the people just accepted all this!

Are there overwhelmed hospitals now? This is a lot of hype to get people to comply!

Even diluted, it’s deadly to everything.

All that hand sanitizer is USELESS unless you marinate yourself in it for 15 minutes.

Plain old dish soap or Ivory will dissolve the virus.

People wasted their money.

Three weeks ago we in Germany had 16 confirmed cases out of more than 80,000,000 residents and China was far away. Today we have more than 6000 cases and the numbers are still increasing rapidly.

You still do very little testing (last time i checked less than 3000 a day for all of the US)and many of your low income workers can`t afford to stay at home, so they don`t unless they`r fit to drop. Therefore the real number of infections is probably several times higher than the number of positive tests.

Don`t be complacent just because it`s not that bad yet. Your government has to act decisively before the bodies pile up, not after.

BTW...we are washing hands and staying home...don’t want anyone to think we think this isn’t serious. Of course it is but the panic is way over the top! I am also not calm about maybe losing our life savings! We shall see! At 66, I’ve seen a lot and this is very strange!

"Are there overwhelmed hospitals now? This is a lot of hype to get people to comply!"

There are in China, Iran and Italy.

Most of Europe and the US didn't take sufficient steps to contain it, so there is a good chance most countries in Europe and the US get overwhelmed.

Its not food hoarding as much as toilet paper, hand sanitizer, disinfectants and soap.

I can understand the disinfectants, soap, and hand sanitizer but what's with the toilet paper?

Hopefully, this is something that will die down soon. I have said since Friday that if nothing else it is a learning experience. The fact is, as always, most are not prepared. That includes myself. Always aware, but not prepared. If not this, then someday there will be something very serious. I am beginning to think also the government knows that we are a sheeple people now they have to take steps earlier to avoid the madness. My brother knows people that never eat at home. All of this I think could and should make us all more conservative in the long run. It will make more than us assess supply chains, borders, and future intentions of so called partners. That is unless the Communists already have control of everything. I will pray and listen to PDJT for the time being.

The average house has lots of room for non perishable items but only so much cold storage space in the refrigerator and freezer.

Panic buying will pretty much be over when cold storage space is full.

We bought a lot of food about a week ago; probably enough of everything for at least a month. The reason wasn’t fear of food shortage, but simply to stay out of places where large crowds go. No hoarding or panic.

There will be way less people dying of corona in the US than the number of rolls of toilet paper stupid people horded.

I can end this madness by tomorrow. All Trump has to say is, “the CDC recommended that the remaining debates be cancelled, both conventions be cancelled and the election postponed for six months.

By tomorrow night, this will no longer be an issue.
