The left’s takeover of every aspect of American society - government, universities, religion, etc - began earnestly in the 1960’s with the anti-war, anti-government and anti-anything suggesting authority. Some of the counter-culture groups that sprung up openly advocated a violent overthrow of government. Always open and welcoming, the churches were easy targets.

I struggle with this

I have spoken the Apostles Creed

...I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of the saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

What happens when we do not commune?

Great post, flaglady! I entirely agree.

I am amazed at the way Americans in general and Christians in particular have just collapsed before this.

But we - and good believing Jews, also - will be called upon to rebuild, not only the economy, but civil society, and that will be our mission. So we have gotten the mission impossible and we must do it! Even if our official churches are hiding in the basement. It’s up to us believers.

True and bishops, pastors, priests and seminarians were complicit in the destruction. Most who fought lost the battle; the war continues.

Please Lord, don’t let me behind them on Judgement Day. I have much to answer for; I don’t need any negativity.

There were already problems with Jesuits in the eighteenth century, so thats not part of the fall which has happened in our lifetimes.

My church closed before the government even got involved.

Communion of saints means “community of saints,” and is a bad translation. It means that all of us, living and dead, are on the same continuum and in contact. Death has no dominion.

In other words, it means that you believe in the immortality of the soul, the current existence of those souls (but in some other dimension) and your and their ability to communicate.

Only souls in Hell would be cut off, but we don’t know who is going to be there so that’s not our concern.

And then we move on to the resurrection of the dead, which will happen, although we have no idea in what form.

Oh bullshit. The church is the people. The "called out". That is where the term comes from. It is not the building.

Our church meets in small groups continually and via Facebook. Hardly anything has changed. If anything, it has sharpened our ability to withstand persecution.

We didn't give into anyone. The Gospel is still preached, sin is still dealt with, and hope is Christ doesn't require everyone to be in the same room at the same time.

Our forefathers left instructions for times like these.

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security. DOI, 1776

Wow, I would be outraged too. Not because a girl was the altar person, but that she passed out the Communion. I would have been also outraged if a boy had passed out the communion. Aren’t there any men in your town? You say Ohio, but I am sure that doesn’t happen in the entire state of Ohio.

I noticed your creed didn’t mention the resurrection of Jesus. Does your “creed” believe in the resurrection of Jesus? Do you believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus for the sins of humanity?

Please, Christians, let’s not get into sectarian details. We need the Faith! Forget the rest of it. The basic Creed is just fine.

While it is true that all of the various Christian groups are charged with expanding their numbers, spreading the gospel, it has to be remembered that Jesus said that His actual church would always be small. “How narrow is the gate, and strait is the way that leadeth to life: and few there are that find it!” Matt 7:14 (DR). He also said “let the blind lead the blind” Matt 15:14. So error will always be present.

We can look at the modern practices of seminary admission entry (lack) of standards and the willingness of many in authority to allow doctrinal drift but the truth of the matter is the actual body of Christ has and will always be small. Our mentality is that “we are right. those that do’t agree with us are wrong”, end of story. Fine except the only thing that hasn’t changed over the centuries is the actual words of the Bible.

Not many these days are willing to roll up their sleeves, study the Bible and base their theology on the book. Rather they would believe that the leaders of their church are correct when they claim that the church, however one defines it, is the promised kingdom, a concept that cannot be proven from a careful study of the Scriptures.

To: Kaslin; All

We got sandbagged by accusations that “we weren’t loving” and that we were causing dissention “ in the Body of Christ”...in many cases and thus the weasels were able to turn the narratives against us. Far too many Christians, who see themselves as polite loving souls, or who confuse “politeness” as true Christian charity, get caught like deer in the head-lights when accusations of hatred, bigotry, and hypocrisy are thrown at us.

We(the ones who should have known better) were trying to avoid the choice of having to choose the dryer lands verses the well watered plains of Sodom. Sometimes the better choice is to break fellowship with “sons of belial” who would turn the churches to evil and to join with others of like mind and Spirit. It takes self discernment to make sure one isn’t being the problem and none of us is perfect. Still it is better to choose the dryer plains....God can help us make them bloom. Never compromise as much as possible;never choose Sodom...

What is “sectarian” about the death and resurrection of Jesus? That IS Christianity. My friend, if Jesus did not rise from the dead then Christianity is a hoax.

Of course they didn’t do anything about it. They only TALK about having principles, not acting on principles. You gotta say, the Left at least have the balls to further their agenda and not just sit their and jaw flap about it.

Ear ticklers is what my pastor calls the Osteen and Meyers types. He preaches the need for salvation and doesn’t hesitate to step on toes of congregation if he feels led by the Lord. He graduated with an undergraduate degree and a master’s and will tell you he speaks Appalachian and is proud of it. He’s a working pastor in the coal machinery business and lives on an old family farm planting his tobacco, corn and raising his babes, his cows. I wonder is a barb wire and electric fence count as a compound?

Due to the Wuhan virus and King Andy II of Kentucky shutting down church services to parking lot only we finally started Facebook streaming the services. I told him he was now a televangelist and asked him where his airplane was and he pointed to his pickup and said I guess that’s it since I fly in it and have the speeding tickets to prove it laughing!
