When she learned about George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis, Yolanda Deaver wanted to be there to protest.

*snip*

Camden Police Chief Joseph Wysocki helped lead the way, carrying a banner proclaiming “Standing in Solidarity,” while a police captain led a Camden Strong chant at one point.

Others carried signs proclaiming Black Lives Matter and demanding justice for Floyd. Cries of “No justice no peace” and “Black Lives Matter” filled the air.

U.S. Rep. Donald Norcross and Camden Mayor Frank Moran also joined the walk.

Take your pick:

A. This was a good idea. It kept the protest peaceful.
B. This was a bad idea. The police shouldn’t be taking sides.

As for me, I really can’t decide. The protest was peaceful. No one got hurt, and no businesses were destroyed. That’s no small thing. But I don’t like seeing uniformed police officers taking sides in a controversy. They should be neutral.

It’s not about George Floyd.

They have surrendered to the mob. They therefore are on the side of ANTIFA, BLM and BAMN.

Have no idea what they are protesting. The police officers in question are under arrest, with a prog DAm so what is it that they want and aren’t getting?

The rioters are just rioting because Soros/deep state told them to - “let the dogs loose”.

The answer is BOTH. It's OK when the police enforce the law equally and receive justice when they break the law and enforce the laws when others break the law - I just wish 'd see more cops arresting the rioters, looters, arsonists and those participating in violence.

Should keep out of this and this rioting is not about the death of a man. This is the Democrat party understanding the virus was now being found as a fraud and the economy was opening up. This is another way to keep people from going to work and getting the economy going.

Well it is an interesting move. It is what MLK may have done if he was a cop. I does have a calming effect. Miami Dade police took a knee and it took the wind out of the protester’s sails. Here is the flip side, you are the Chief of Police, you LEAD the march and then it turns violent...as a LEADER of the march and an officer who took an oath to uphold the law, protect and serve...have you violated your oath? Should you be immediately fired? I think so.

Ha! You’re right. At some rank cops cease to become cops. They turn into politicians.

I should have included a choice C.

In the vast majority of cases, the Chief of Police is appointed to his/her position by the Mayor. Therefore, it only stands to reason that said Chief of Police and all departmental policies are a reflection of the Mayor and his/her Agenda.

“Take your pick:”

I grew up watching a lot of westerns. There were many episodes where the townspeople formed a mob and wanted to hang the guy in jail. Most of the time the sheriff stopped the mob. Once in a while the sheriff joined the mob and a courageous citizen had to step in and stop the mob.

Maybe we need to show old westerns in schools.

C. They are all Democrats and they are the problem. Let’s thank the police chief for making that clear.

Was the cop on the clock?

Will it be cool for her to do the same to protest Trump’s election?

(Why do I think she’s already been involved with that?) :-)

Yes. IMO this is really what is happening. I am not sure it is as simple as the Demoncrats...but that is easier for folks to swallow. It is much larger and scarier that that. Riots are breaking out around the globe because of what happened to George Floyd...WTF?

Yesterday our Chief of Police, Director of Public Safety, and I believe the mayor went to the protesters and had a dialogue. Then last night the protesters tried to loot Lowe’s and Walmart and tried to start a couple of fires. (Our protesters are pretty stupid. They weren’t truly successful in anything they tried.) I don’t know if I the government officials accomplished anything.

‘The Rifleman’ was awesome. It was as much a morality play as it was a western. It’s just a shame that Lucas McCain ended up shooting so many people. That alone would keep it out of the schools.

If you remember the old series ‘Maverick’, Bret Maverick made his way through the west without much shooting at all. I kinda wish ‘The Rifleman’ had leaned more in that direction.

(Before anyone yells at me, yes, I know McCain often acted as a marshal’s deputy.)

At this point in time I believe the police chief is an unwitting ally to the looting, arson and general mayhem that has occurred.

I’d take the do it version. While other cities burned, it seems Camden was spared.
