There are battery operated portable AC units. That’s what I would be looking at.

My logical response would be to use all the energy I could before the blackout hits, get the house down to 68 degrees, get the candles and oil lamps ready or the generator, charge all battery powered items, etc.
The crazy thing would be to not use energy and then get a blackout anyway.
The reality is just they will vote the same and just buy generators. Most people I know in CA have bought generators now.
BOL! One DIL, a week or so ago told our son her husband to buy a portable Gasolene Honda Generator or else.
The other adult son just got the same warning from his wife.

Part of that $90 billion was spent on swapping out diesel locomotives for all-electric locomotives. Never mind that the diesel locomotives are hybrids that generate electricity to power electric motors in the wheels. Idiot politicians! Now we're stuck with electric trains sucking up more electricity when we were fine with the diesels (CalTrain etc.). All the stations and rail lines were rebuilt to accomodate the electricity necessary to operate. These local lines share track with the high-speed rail to nowhere.
This is the future of our country if the demonrats take control.
Yet we allow the population grow thru illegal immigration.

In times before the white men came the CA Indians well knew how to manage forests by using controlled burns. Since then the technology has vastly improved on how to implement their discovery, but the basic discovery—remove the fuel before it combusts destroying everything its path— hasn’t. Now we have bulldozers, chain saws, heavy duty trucks, and brush cutters to do the work instead of controlled burns. Equally important, the removed biomass can be very effectively used to produce numerous forest products, with whatever remaining waste there is being burned to produce electric power. That way everybody wins. There’s vastly less destruction, vastly less money spent on firefighting, and vastly reduced carbon emission since only the waste, instead of everything, will be burned. And, BTW, all sorts of well paying jobs will be created without spending any taxpayer money.
Really, really, really, REALLY glad I don’t live in Kommiefornia !
