Sorry, not all of us are woke enough not to panic and hit the accelerator and squish you. Are these folks that stupid or maybe it is possible some of them may start to have second thoughts about harassing innocent people ? For this specific case, I think it best to withhold judgement as to why the pedestrian was blocking the vehicle, and why the driver ran into them. It is possible there was a good reason for the moment to block the vehicle. It is possible the driver did not realize the pedestrian was there.
However, in the general pattern of vehicles being surrounded by mobs who are yelling and acting aggressively, I do not think the mobs deserve to be called "protesters"--which implies they are engaged in convincing others through rhetoric. Rather I think terms like "agitators", "mobs", "aggressors", "rage mob", "thug" or the like is more accurate and deserved. They are trying to intimidate and terrify others into bending the knee to their point of view.
Does he have insurance? (That’s what the BLM say abt burning businesses.) I guess if you have ins it is OK.

Dear Johnson City PD: These people hate you. If you get ambushed and shot, they will block the entrance to emergency. Then they will stand outside and chant for you to die. So, ok, I know you have to investigate. But, uh, don’t give it a huge priority. Just sayin’
