There is some reasonable conjecture regarding the first shooting. The fact that the head shot did not have an exit wound implies that the bullet was a smaller caliber than Kyle’s weapon. Even if Kyle was using .223 caliber bullets, a head shot would almost certainly exited the skull. If Kyle had used 5.56 bullets, there would not have been much skull left to examine.

Did it have an entrance wound? ...Or was it a deep graze. It is not listed as the fatal shot.
