The excuse I heard this morning is that they were hired as ‘executive protection’, not security, so the license was not required.
Channel 9 News, KUSA, Denver, Colorado, is probably going up for sale soon. The family of the dead victim who was shot by their unlicensed security guard is no doubt facing an existential lawsuit.
A license requires 16 hours of required training in addition to eight annual hours for renewal.
Wow! That is extensive!
That is nearly the same training requirement to get a CCW in Ohio. The exception being the annual training.
I can’t say the training wouldn’t have stopped this murder. But I really doubt it.
That’s an awful lot of protection for just a peaceful protest.
My supposition is that this killing was planned, just as the Antifa murder in Portland was, complete with auxiliaries assisting and documenting the hit.
By reaching for Lee Keltner's weapon, before being slapped away, the Security clown was, in fact "instigating" and NOT "protecting" his "client".
Keltner's deployment of mace/bear spray is NOT a sufficient provocation for use of deadly force!
The dead man’s wife has one hell of a lawsuit against that TV station. I be the lawyers are already lining up outside of her front door.

Now this information is important, because a licensed station must operate in the public interest. And hiring hit men to murder folks of opposing political views certainly isn’t in the public interest.
And the current licese expires on April 1, 2022.
Action plan:
Start bombarding the FCC with complaints and demands that the licence be reviewed for termination, and certainly not be renewed.
At the very least, this will hit them in the pocket book as $1000 an hour lawyers mobilize to defend this cash cow for Multimedia/Tegna. (Looks like in the past they have used the Washington law firm of Covington & Burling LLC)
