Do you know how much newspaper obits cost these days? My dear husband’s obit was 50 lines long and cost $500.

Maybe these people just cannot afford such an expense, along with medical bills and funeral costs.

That’s my point....the obits, in EP, have always contained at least some personal tribute/story, to the deceased, written by their loved ones.

I have friends and family in EP, so I’ve been familiar with their usual number and style of obits, for decades.

So, you’re saying that suddenly, in the past couple of weeks, people have just become unable to pay for stories, to go with their obits? This, after decades of ALWAYS having a tribute/story?

Also, the number of obits did NOT go up, significantly, or commensurably....considering this ‘rise’ in China Flu deaths....until the past week, with these ‘empty’ obits.

I find it quite odd.

I imagine these are Mexican nationals aka illegals, who are being counted in these China Flu numbers.

You may be right. It could be something more sinister.

i read in Christopher Isherwood’s “Berlin Diary”,(published in Autumn, 1930) that he noticed the obits from rural areas were getting significantly higher in number and shorter in length.

“Beloved grandmother, passed away suddenly”.

This was at the time the Nazis were cleaning out the old age homes and mental wards of “Lives devoid of value”, as they called them.

Yes it is....my hometown is thick with it from what family living there says...it’s a small rural town up in God’s country. Completely revitalized over the past few years and a beautiful place to live. So it’s heartbreaking to see people going down with this virus I have known growing up there.

In the first wave they had just 3 Hospital cases throughout the county.

Well George you'd have to go to my little hometown and then you wouldn't call it BS. Reports from family out there are folks are dying with this and it's thick there. First wave had just three total Hospitalizations for the longest time....but now that's increased substantially.

I think the previous poster had characterized him as a “leftist Dem,” although he’s locked in very public disagreements with the Dems right now.

Just curious. If you don’t think COVID is spread at bars or large intergenerational family gatherings, how do you think it spreads? It’s certainly spreading in an awful lot of places right now.

I think that it spreads just like the regular flu spreads.

Through sneezes, coughing, other ways that the flu spreads.

I also don’t believe the numbers being put out by gov’ts.

I think cases are increasing, because testing is increasing. I think that there are NUMEROUS false positives....caused by the fact that they are spinning the tests up to 40 spins, where FRAUDci himself, had warned that spins of tests, over 30, could cause false positives.

Various reports have shown that our death rates aren’t necessarily higher, than usual rates, comparatively. (I’ve seen study links, posted on other threads, here.)

I think it’s something that, like the flu, can be more dangerous to certain groups/ages, etc., and, that standard, common sense practices - you know, like the ones we practice during ANY flu season - and, protecting the vulnerable ones (elderly, those with comorbitites, washing our hands, taking vitamins for colds/flu), we can live our lives as we always have.

I think the tyrannical shut downs are BS and nothing more than control.

I think masks are useless, but if it makes one feel better to wear one, then go right ahead.

The only smart thing to do, in the case of the common cold, is to keep one's own immune system in tip top shape through nutrition.

You have heard the saying, "If they can send a man to the moon, why can't they cure the common cold?"

Truth is NASA figured out the cure, or remedy for it, however it turns out to so inexpensive that no drug company would allow for it since they make so much money on medicine for the symptoms like cough medicine and such.
