Rep. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., said he witnessed the moment a police officer shot a woman inside the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday and insisted the officer had no other choice.
A pro-Trump mob of rioters rammed their way into the Capitol Wednesday as Congress held a joint session to certify the election results, sending lawmakers into hiding.
Video shows a group attempting to force itself into the House chamber, where lawmakers were present. As protesters were breaking glass on the doors that kept them out to force their way through, a law enforcement officer fired a shot. One woman, Ashli Babbitt, was struck by a bullet and later died.
"When they broke the glass in the back, the [police] lieutenant that was there, him and I already had multiple conversations prior to this, and he didn't have a choice at that time," Mullin told ABC News' George Stephanapoulos on "Good Morning America" Thursday.
"The mob was going to come through the door, there was a lot of members and staff that were in danger at the time. And when he [drew] his weapon, that's a decision that's very hard for anyone to make, and, once you draw your weapon like that, you have to defend yourself with deadly force."
Mullin said police "showed a lot of restraint" and "did the best they could."

She was there illegally. Her activities and those of the people around her have been described throughout the media as 'a riot' and as 'an insurrection', and Biden has called them 'domestic terrorists'. Having had those labels assigned to her do you really think there is a chance in the world that the officer who shot her will be charged with anything? Especially with a congressman saying he had no choice?
I have watched the videos of her shooting that have been posted on the internet. There is absolutely no reason the trigger should have pulled. Pulling the trigger is the final option when your life is threatened. No way was the shooter’s life threatened. Makes me sick!

I supported Trump's legal challenges in court 100%. He has the right to present legal challenges just like any other citizen. We all know the mainstream media is biased against Trump. But now I'm being asked to believe that every single judge who heard Trump's legal cases, including his own Supreme Court picks, is part of the grand Deep State conspiracy against him, well that's a conspiracy theory too far for me, I'm afraid.

The woman who was killed should not have been doing what she was doing, but this could have been easily resolved without shooting her.

Again, I never said I liked the result. I didn't want Biden to win either. But I'd rather accept the truth, however unpleasant, and start preparing for the 2024 campaign now rather than listen to a comforting lie for the next 2 weeks or 4 years.
