REPORT: Trump Discusses New ‘Patriot Party’ As Republicans Capitulate

President Trump reportedly discussed forming a new political party – the Patriot Party – after “feuding” with the Republican establishment.

The Wall Street Journal reported the following in its January 19th piece entitled “Trump Has Discussed Starting a New Political Party”:

President Trump has talked in recent days with associates about forming a new political party, according to people familiar with the matter, an effort to exert continued influence after he leaves the White House.

Mr. Trump discussed the matter with several aides and other people close to him last week, the people said. The president said he would want to call the new party the “Patriot Party,” the people said.

Mr. Trump has feuded in recent days with several Republican leaders including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.), who on Tuesday said Mr. Trump deserved blame for provoking the deadly Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol. Polls show Mr. Trump retains strong support among rank-and-file GOP voters.

Folks keep saying "the 75 million people who voted for Trump. . ." The number is almost certainly bigger, even substantially so. With that probability in mind, and given the fact that almost all of the Trump voters know he was robbed, getting them to sign up for a Party headed by Trump would be a no brainer.

That happening would put us in a position to absolutely smoke the Left within a few cycles because in the preceding time the Left will bring poverty and misery to a lot of Americans, including those who voted for Biden and leftist policies. At that point, out of desperation they'll be looking for a way out.

I think a new Party headed by Trump would be the quickest path to destroying the elitist, cocktail club we know as the Republican Party and replacing it with a Party that truly represents our will. Good riddance to the Republican Party. If 20+ years of its pulling defeat from the jaws of victory isn't enough for us to realize it's a dead dog, then nothing will.

To all those who'd rather "rebuild" the Party I say this: You're up against a nearly impossible task - good luck getting rid of the lifelong RINO incumbents in it, and the Globalist bureaucracy within it that runs the show. A waste of time, doomed to end up taking us right back to RINO-land.

I agree, the voting procedures in certain States need to be remedied.

The cheating at the polls must MUST be fixed on the State level.

States control and set the rules and methods.

So the rule of thumb applies, all politics are local.

Trump is just floating this idea to scare the republican establishment into playing nice with him.

He doesn’t need another party. He will sweep the next presidential primary if he decides to run. And he’ll likely be up against Kamala in the general. Easy win, f they get rid of mail in voting.

Head fake!

Agreed, exactly, fellow 1998'er.

I'm noticing here on FR, we are becoming rarer. I figured I'd reply to the first knowing comment, and it took 9 this thread.

Why doesn’t President Trump restart the Bull Moose Party? That worked out so well for Teddy Roosevelt.

Worst idea ever.
This is very simple: The Bull Moose Party.
President Trump needs to read up on President Theodore Roosevelt's and the Bull Moose Party and how it lead to easy victories for the Dems.
Worst idea ever.
Every party has disagreements and infighting. It's up to President Trump to fight his cause and argue his case within the Republican Party.

Kinda funny that people think voting still matters. We aren’t voting our way out of this mess.

Trump despises Democrats more than the GOP. This is Trump becoming bigger than the GOP. He’s becoming a kingmaker.

What impeachment danger? Please explain how impeachment, “removal of office”, applies to someone not holding an office.

“There still is an impeachment danger.”

If he’s convicted the conviction can be appealed to the Supreme Court where it’s likely to be found unconstitutional for multiple reasons.

“Head fake!”

Yes, too many people talk big and don’t know how hard third party is here.

Shot, they don’t even know how hard third candidate is. Take Kayne as an example. Dems fought to the death to keep him off state ballots.

Multiply that Byatt thousand.

Would those conservative stalwarts Jared and Ivanka continue to be his top advisors when he forms this new party?

I would think that in some states a candidate could be awarded both the Patriot and Republican nominations, for certain offices.

I recall candidates in NYC running as Conservative and Republican.

No, 70 million would not immediately sign up.

The Democrat party is so far to the left and the Republican party so weak in response that a new party seems likely.

Certainly in Trump you would have a tireless activist for the new party.

If you are against a new party then you are my enemy. My mission is to destroy the GOP as a viable party. On way or another it has to go.

Starting a new party is a thought lift for anyone. Or at least a successful party...

It’s clear the GOP needs purged or abandoned.

Purging the GOP is a large lift as well
