On Saturday, the Washington Post chose as its lead story a piece about Gazans surveying the damage caused by Israel’s response to rocket attacks by Hamas. Those rocket attacks were mentioned only in passing.
The Post’s headline story wasn’t exactly news. Everyone knows that Gaza was damaged by Israeli strikes. The story’s only purpose was to garner sympathy for Gazans.
Indeed, the story was so slanted that it could almost have been written by Hamas. It might have been vetted by the terrorist outfit. The Post’s reporters — Steve Hendrix and Hazem Balousha — are in Gaza City only because Hamas allows them to be.
The Post doesn’t really address the interesting question — whether Gazans will reflect on the damage and, if so, what they will conclude. It’s easy to “survey” what Gazans have lost thanks to Hamas’ attack on Israel. But will residents ask themselves what they have gained from it and, more generally, what they gain from being governed by Hamas?
Hamas gained something. It confirmed that it can inflict damage, albeit minimal, on Israel. It confirmed that it’s at the vanguard of the fight, albeit futile, to destroy the Jewish state.
It has demonstrated to its Iranian backers that their financial investment in Hamas’ terrorism yields some return. And the exchange of fire with Israel probably caused an uptick in anti-Israeli and anti-Semitic sentiment in the West.
But what did the Gazans gain? Maybe some are gratified that Hamas killed about a dozen residents of Israel, not all of whom were Jews or Israelis. But the Gazan death toll was considerably higher. Beyond this dubious tradeoff, it’s difficult to see Gazans having achieved anything.

Everything the lame stream media writes about Israel is written or approved by Hamas.
That there remain Gazans to do the surveying is proof IDF hasn’t finished the job.
The lesson here is don’t fire rockets unless you want to get bombed.
They’re all boo-hoo; what did they think, expect? That Israel wouldn’t respond? You send over ten rockets, Israel responds with a hundred, you send over a hundred ...
Israel made a mistake. They should have blown the crap out of the Gazans , and then occupied it, chasing down every terrorist and taken them out.ALL OF THEM.
Gaza should be incorportaed within Israel: A one state solution.
Israel needs to let everyone know thats what they will do next time. And mean it. The Palestinians would be at the table and talking sense then. But the Biden administration? They want this agony prolopnged fopr another 70 years.
END IT NOW ISRAEL!
Just look at the Germans killed by Nazi’s as the war went bad. Same thing. Difference here is that the Gazans put up with it.
BUT WILL THEY REFLECT ON IT?
Nope!!
Reflection means the ability to think...Absent among the PALLYWOOD group...
Photo-op heaven for the MSM.
Difference here is that the Gazans put up with it.>>>>>>>>>>>>
Its the Umma!
Alahwahoo Whackbar!
Lets home they wake up before they all kill one another.
Because of this dynamic, Israel has no other choice but to conquer and occuppy Gaza, allowing the Palestinians a path way to Israeli citizenship.
Hamas makes sure that Gazans CAN’T reflect upon it. Even when misfired Hamas rockets are falling on their own homes.
One or two tactical nukes would have easily done that job, much more thoroughly, too.
GAZANS SURVEY DAMAGE, BUT WILL THEY REFLECT ON IT?
—
Dear Paul they will reflect that their missiles need GPS guidance units and they also need anti-air defenses. Wait!
You mean they will some how have a drastic change of heart and remove the destruction of Israel clause from their constitution and rise up and demand their leaders hand over their Jew-killing weapons; and then they will all sit down and sing songs of happiness with their wonderful news Jewish friends? That’s what you mean?
Is that because you smoked some really good hashish laced with opium and a dash of Fentanyl?
Adding up the Bill so Joe can screw the taxpayers again
What is there to negotiate on?
Don’t cry, Palies, Uncle Joe Biden will rebuild and re-arm you.
If they are able to survey the damage, there probably
isn’t enough.
This kind of violence flares up every couple of years. Palestinians send rockets to Israel. Israel shells Gaza or sends in the troops. After a couple of weeks it dies down...till the next time. The only thing you can be sure of is that there will be a next time.
Don’t start nothing, won’t be nothing. Men In Black.
