Former Cosby Show costar Phylicia Rashad, now a Howard University dean, has modified her gleeful reaction to news of Bill Cosby’s release from prison. But not before drawing criticism from her new academic colleagues.
Cosby was sentenced to three to 10 years in prison in 2018 for sexually assaulting Andrea Constand in 2004. He was released Wednesday after that conviction was overturned by Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court over a decades-old immunity agreement.
Rashad, who played Cosby’s wife Clair Huxtable on the hit series, sent out a celebratory tweet on Wednesday when news arrived of Cosby’s freedom.
“FINALLY!!!! A terrible wrong is being righted- a miscarriage of justice is corrected!” she tweeted with a photo of the 83-year-old comedian.
She later walked back those comments somewhat, saying she “fully support[s] survivors of sexual assault coming forward. My post was in no way intended to be insensitive to their truth. Personally I know from friends and family that such abuse has lifelong residual effects. My heartfelt wish is for healing,” she tweeted.
“While Dean Rashad has acknowledged in her follow-up tweet that victims must be heard and believed, her initial tweet lacked sensitivity towards survivors of sexual assault,” Howard said. “Personal positions of University leadership do not reflect Howard University’s policies. We will continue to advocate for survivors fully and support their right to be heard.”
even further multiple accuaors have been proven to be liars and the things tgey claim never happened. video evidence showing the woman and cosby were never at a place and date they claim an assault took place, for example.
I’m not conflicted. Cosby was denied due process, the foundation of our justice system, by an over zealous prosecutor and a judge who was incompetent or biased or both. The facts and evidence become irrelevant when the state conducts itself in this manner. The Pa Supreme Court was right to stomp the prosecutor and the judge.
Problem is, this has been a well-known secret for some time. He admitted in court to drugging women. He’s been doing this since the 1960s, possibly even the ‘50s, and his wife has stood by knowing what he was doing. His public face has never been his private face. His co-star from “I, Spy”, Robert Culp, even observed he was the angriest man he ever met. Even in prison, when he could’ve gotten some psychiatric help that’s been long overdue, he still clung to his denials and playing the victim. Appalling.
He was not convicted of raping anybody !
The PA Supreme Court is a notoriously activist far-left partisan Demonrat creature that not only ordered the theft of 5 Republican U.S. House seats - illegally and unconstitutionally, but also aided and abetted the criminal theft of the 2020 Presidential race in a state where Trump was ahead by a half-million votes before the fake votes came flooding in in the middle of the night.
It was a GOP prosecutor and former state Attorney General, Bruce Castor, who finally put this serial sex predator and rapist behind bars. The PA Supremes are a disgrace where no justice was rendered.
Got to give Cosby credit ! He didn’t fold to their demands to falsely admit guilt !
Take the blinders off, pops. This guy is a serial predator. He should spend the remainder of his life rotting in a prison cell.
It was democrats that i railroaded Cosby.
Take your revisionist history and shove it where the sun does not shine.
The corrupt Pa Supreme Court sat on their decision for five months. They crafted it in a way that does not undo all of the abuses of the trial. The dissents make it clear that they should have addressed other issues n
WRONG !
Try again, but thank you for playing.
How about we start by convicting the easily proven liars that attempted to extort Bill ?
He admitted to drugging women and assaulting them
Cosby IS a Demonrat. The PA Supreme Court is Demonrat. Demonrats take care of their own, especially against serial criminals. Six decades this guy has been drugging and raping countless women.
Sell that baloney to someone who’ll buy it. Just because you worship the guy doesn’t mean he’s innocent.
Some fools here think Cosby is a Conservative Republican who has never cheated on his wife. It’s sad when your idols turn out to be devils.
Did he surreptitiously ‘drug’ those women; or, did he openly offer the women party drugs, which they took willingly?
The media reports make it seem like the former; while, it was common for hosts in the 1980’s to offer guests party drugs, along with, or instead of, alcoholic drinks.
And yet I still miss the 80’s.
Cosby’s phoney-baloney “conviction” was the high water mark of the “me, too” movement.
The tide has turned.
May it become a Tsunami!
He offered them pills. They took them.
How many people in the 60s did that very thing. You couldn’t go to a party and not have people offer you pills and drugs, and no one asked to see the bottle or anything.
Further its proven many of the “best accusers” were liars.
Hes married and that makes this crappy behavior in several ways, but his proven lying accusers should be in jail for what they did, and the prosecutors went after him illegally from what I’ve read in earlier articles posted here in the last week.
Thanks Phyllis Rashid ! For at leas briefly telling the truth !
The tide has turned.
May it become a Tsunami!
I'll reserve further comment until we see if Rashad is forced out by Howard University. If she stays, I'll agree that the tide may indeed have turned.
IMO, a handful of men who were Democrats (but had irked a sufficient number of leftist women) were thrown under the "Me, Too" bus, all for the purpose of making that movement appear to be non-partisan.
Good one.
