Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced his resignation on Tuesday under threat of impeachment, following the release of a scathing state Attorney General report in which investigators concluded that he sexually harassed several women in violation of state and federal law.
“I think that given the circumstances, the best way I can help now is if I step aside,” Cuomo said from his Manhattan office.
After disputing the report’s findings and apologizing for some behavior he insisted didn’t amount to sexual harassment, Cuomo said the wasted time and money from the impeachment process would hurt New Yorkers during a time of crisis.
Cuomo’s resignation will be effective in 14 days, the governor said.
Under state law, Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul will assume the role of governor, becoming the first woman to lead the Empire State.

He is resigning in disgrace! And there will be civil lawsuits as well. He was a thug who ruled the Democrat Party in NY and now the Party has turned on him.
The fact that he got removed is a victory for our side, I don’t care what reason they use! He was one of their shining lights and now he has been exposed as a thug, along with his lying brother. The criminal charges are still possible there as well as civil cases.
He served his purpose, the be the foil against Trump when it mattered.

I would expect it was because too many club members had favorite relatives who died from the nursing home fiasco. The oligarchs have their sentimental feelings too. And they are vengeful when slighted.
A good old-fashioned sex scandal is the traditional means for hounding a politician out of office when the powers-that-be want somebody gone. That sort of dirt is readily available on most politicians. It is almost a requirement for admittance to the power circles.
Add in the enemies that any politician accumulates in the normal course of his career and then just have a few meetings. News at eleven. Problem gone in a few weeks.
Bingo. A sexual harassment scandal, while serious, pales in comparison to the nursing home scandals.
