The venerable South China Morning Post explained Monday that “so far China has reported nine Covid-19 cases caused by the omicron variant, including two who were infected by a man returning from Canada.”
The United States is averaging about 235,000 cases per day, and in the most recent CDC analysis, almost 60% of new cases are from omicron. Assuming the accuracy of those numbers, the U.S. is currently averaging roughly 140,000 Omicron cases per day, while China, with five times the population, is averaging one omicron case per day. Yes, one.
While the numbers in America aren’t totally accurate — folks with positive at-home tests don’t always notify health authorities, and many asymptomatic people are unaware they have the virus — official Chinese statistics are preposterous.
Yes, the ChiComs initiated city-wide lockdowns and welded people’s home doors shut, but it’s implausible that a massively contagious virus in every other country suddenly became mostly innocuous upon entering China.

Earlier this year CDC director Rochelle Walensky said she thought COVID death rates were 25% inflated. Boy, she did backpedal that quickly.
Maybe Covid was engineered to just kill people that are not fully chinese?

I’m certainly not suggesting that we should believe anything the CCP reports about anything - only that comparison to our fabricated statistics is a very poor way of discrediting theirs.

At least in Shanghai I believe their death numbers are real. They probably lost a lot more people in Wuhan in February 2020 than they have ever admitted.

Tax all Chinese imports....and that includes goods manufactured elsewhere from Chinese raw materials....200% tax....pass a law MANDATING (since the Dems love mandates) that all online and catalog vendors (Amazon, especially) must state clearly in the item description the country of manufacure! Items that you buy in person are labeled with origin...why does Amazon get a pass???

I will argue that those who matter know that China is too vast and in many ways just plain backward to have the capability for gathering adequate, wholesale Covid data.

Reading the comments thus far, questions are arising about the data itself, taxonomy, collection, reporting and analysis. If the “system” built around “hard facts” as we are told hosts fabrications somewhere, it is fair to question whether there are fabrications in more than one part of the whole mess.
When posting such as the above, some have tried to say “ignore that but believe this.” Reference to nested web pages all built on the “data” have revealed at least to me repeated fabrications, some off by a factor of five in one instance wherein an estimate was given credence over a bit of data to inflate numbers. When estimates become data, we are in a fantasy world. Or a liar's game. The lure and lair of the corrupt and the overtly political, the predators and their prey.
Follow the money as a good a way forward as any.

For the Record, President Trump did a pretty good job of it. He imposed tariffs on lots and lots of Chinese imports. A tariff is a tax paid by the buyer at the customs house before the cargo is allowed into the country
That tax is passed on to the ultimate American citizen buyer.

Chinese reported statistics are never accurate. However it would be very hard to hide in China the extensive scenarios that happened elsewhere. Resident foreigners, foreign consulate officials and diplomats would have noticed massive sickness.
Also a good bit of the Chinese economy is the capital that Western firms invest to create production facilities of all sorts within China that provide employment and generate wealth
( and kickbacks to communist officials) They no doubt want the Western executives who make these decisions to believe that China has no serious endemic heath problems.
This whole time, many Asian countries have imposed exactly that 200% import tax on American-made products. Politics is the art of telling the big lies, which is why most politicians are lawyers. Free trade has always been a big lie. Mass climate change, CCP virus death counts, vaccine safety and efficacy, "green" energy, population totals, every publication out of the UN. Everything political is a lie. The hobby of politics is pointing out the lies.
