Mayor Eric Adams admitted Tuesday that even he doesn’t feel safe riding the city’s subways.
“Day one, Jan. 1, when I took the train, I saw the homelessness, the yelling, the screaming early in the morning,” said Adams, who entered office at the start of the year, during a press conference. “Crimes right outside the platform.
“We know we have a job to do, and we’re going to do both: We’re going to drive down crime, and we’re going to make sure New Yorkers feel safe in our subway system,” he said. “And they don’t feel that way now. I don’t feel that way when I take the train.”
Adams’ stunning admission comes on the heels of his controversial comments just days ago that the tubes are safe — and that there’s only a “perception” that they’re not after Saturday’s random fatal shove of a straphanger at the Times Square station.

just another libhole loser.....in office 2 weeks and at the very first hint of criticism he plays the race card....
I’ve never thought they were safe. I’d only get on a NYC subway if I was carrying. But that is illegal. So I’ve never been to NYC, nor do I have any desire to go there.
Especially now. It’s dead.
“he plays the race card”
From what I hear that’s how he moved up in the NYPD.
Always was a problem child with a racial chip on his shoulder.
More “I feel your pain” BS. Unlike nearly everyone else, Adams has security detail.
Just MANDATE ALL Public Employee’s use Public Transportation to and from Work, it will be fixed post haste
“Just MANDATE ALL Public Employee’s use Public Transportation to and from Work, it will be fixed post haste”
This is a wonderful idea. And environmentally friendly on top of that.
This is like coming home, finding out the dog took a massive sh!t in the middle of the living room, then taking photos and posting it on social media with the caption, “Look how awful my Living Room is. The smell is even worse. I guess I just can’t use the Living Room anymore!”
Oh, I forgot. Liberals. Never mind.
There’s no mention of how many armed security officers accompanied Mayor Adams on his subway ride. I’d think New Yorkers might would want to know that.
in the early 1950s, my aunt, now long deceased, used to ride the NY subway from her home in Yonkers, to her job on Broad Street, where she was a legal secretary. We have photos of her going to her work - pillbox hat with veil (only in the daytime, of course), long gloves. Its how people went out in public. She said never gave a thought to her safety on the subway.
The only subway I ever rode in my life was in Toronto in 1964. Good Lord but that was an un nerving trip filled with undesirables. I fully understood Bernie Goetz when he appeared some years later.
To make people feel safe, they are going to have to start arresting the wrong people.
You were safer on a NYC trolley car in 1880.

Nothing will help until they re-open all the mental institutions (and build a LOT more new ones) and involuntarily commit the crazies on the streets.
The nation used to do that and cities were [somewhat] pleasant places to live.
Now if only we could somehow undo the invention of cheap spray paint. Or the desire of the lowlifes to turn urban environments into disgustingly ugly spray-painted hellholes.
Don't let him tell anyone he's learning what the subway systems is like.
Mayor Adams, you were a career police officer and department leader. You know in your heart and your head what has to be done. You need to remove all restrictions on being armed in public, so your citizens who choose to do so can defend themselves. Anyone who cannot be trusted to be armed should not be running around loose. You must insist that the Soros-funded DAs do their job and that the no-cash-bail policy be dumped.
IOW, you have to stand up against the leftist morons who put you in office!
Bernhard! Bernhard! Paging Bernhard.
New York mayor says subway safe after woman shoved in front of train
The Hill linked this story from the U.K. Telegraph.
The guy can't make up his mind.
