Like “jumbo shrimp,” “proud New Jerseyan” or “Democratic-party moderate,” “vegan dining” is an obvious oxymoron. The vegan part of the dish is the garbage that’s left after you throw out the real food. You might as well be eating the wrapper your sandwich came in. When it comes to bean-sprout sundaes or celery burgers, put me down for a hearty “no thanks.”
You eat what you want, though. Just don’t tell me what I can have. Is that so hard? Yet New York City public school students are being forced to go vegan on Fridays, thanks to our vegan mayor, Eric Adams.
Adams’s gag-inducing new policy of swapping out food for colon-blow roughage and mashed yeast is a declaration of food war. As if we didn’t have enough wars going on— the woke wars, the COVID wars, the language wars and the info wars and the streaming wars. The hell with peas, give peace a chance. It’s also a religious war: Eric (like Bill Clinton, another member of the militant vegan brigades) used to be fat, got thin, and is now an evangelist for the cause. Good for you, Eric! But don’t force your cauliflower patties and cheese-less tacos on the kids. It’s been a horrible two years for them: haven’t they suffered enough?

We had neighborhood grade schools, so no hot lunch program, but junior high and high school had great food! And I’m a picky eater, so I’m not kidding. All freshly made from quality ingredients. The lunches in the 80’s and beyond were pitiful. Microwave cheapy garbage. (Took LPN classes that were held in a local high school before I became an R.N. At lunch there once or twice. Terrible!)
Aren’t there more pressing things for him to do than potentially messing up lunch for the kids?

If NYC gets a mayor who is a drunkard will the school cafeterias serve vodka and bourbon instead of milk?
I went to small Baptist private school for middle school (grades 5-8) and another for high school. My high school graduating class had 42 student and there were about 200 students total for grades 9-12. Neither school had a cafeteria or even vending machines. I brought lunch from home every day.

We've got bigger brains, smaller jaws, and smaller bellies than all the other apes, and we alone can walk bipedally (allowing us to develop hands specialized for dexterity), all because our ancestors and not theirs specialized in hunting that enabled them to consume a diet rich in proteins and animal fats.
Many years ago I went to a doctor who asked if I might cut down on red meat. I suggested that maybe I could just die, instead.
Elites are up to no good with this agenda. I actually root for the carnivores when it comes to this kind of government imposition. Keep those burgers landing on the grill and issues of Field & Stream landing in your mailboxes, Sirs.
Vegetarian is one thing, but Vegan with fake meat, fake cheese, no dairy, etc is crap. Forcing kids to eat vegan is like forcing religion on them.
A vegan diet does not contain “fake” meat and/or cheese and it’s not crap. A plant based diet can be completely nutritious and contain every single thing that the human body requires.
The laboratory created meats and cheeses are not required in a vegan diet, they are consumed by people who desire meat and would rather eat the chemical compositions than animal products. Those chemical compositions are scary. Exposing, not forcing kids to vegetarian/vegan fare is no different than educating them in the various religions that span the globe.
Vegetarian and vegan fare takes a lot more work and prep to create than standard omnivore meals. It also needs to be prepared by someone that understands the idea and believes in it, otherwise these kids are gonna get a bowl of gruel and dry toast for lunch.
