Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., announced Thursday that he will oppose President Biden's first U.S. Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, even after going into the confirmation process with an "open mind." "After studying the nominee’s record and watching her performance this week, I cannot and will not support Judge Jackson for a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court," McConnell said from the Senate floor.

Please reread TangoLimaSierra’s comment: Then he must know there are enough Republican votes to confirm her. So he gets to play the conservative this time.

Doesn't make any sense since they don't need any Republican votes.

In addition if he decided to oppose her nomination and there weren't enough votes, how would his announcement have differed? Makes even less sense as an argument. Just making negative comments directed at McConnell for the sake of doing so - zero substance, zero logic. When he does something wrong then criticism is warranted. When he doens't, it is not.

Murkowski has to calculate which way will help her win re-election. She has to walk a fine line as either vote could damage her standing among voters she needs to vote for her.

Probably right about Romney and Collins.

Academic, though, as zero Democrats will probably vote against her.

Liz Cheney is (thankfully for many reasons) not a Senator.

I’m no mcconnell stan, but the only thing he is good at is getting R judges confirmed and D judges blocked whenever he can.

Yup, politicians on both sides do this all the time; choose among themselves who gets play good cop or bad cop on votes. Who needs to save face/who can let it slide.

She will NOT be confirmed. No nominee can overcome a record of LOW sentencing child predators. People, she embodies soft on crime at a time when crime is near decades year highs. Manchin will NOT vote for her. Tester won’t either. He’s up for re-elect in MT. McConnell is right: she blamed her hideous decisions on Congress and when she was tired of talking about it, she said she won’t answer any more questions! Oh really judge? Really now?

You forget that McConnell held the caucus together firmly against BBB. The senators you named don’t want to explain an aye vote on a judge who low sentences child predators. I know you don’t like the RINOs, but, don’t be ridiculous.
