Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said there was "nothing left" of the strategic city amid Kyiv’s appeal to Moscow to allow the evacuation of at least 1,00,000 people who want to leave.
"There is nothing left there. Only ruins," Zelenskyy said of Mariupol, which has a peacetime population of 4,00,000, in a video address to the Italian parliament.
As he was speaking, the city council said Russian forces had dropped two large bombs on Mariupol but gave no details of casualties or damage.
In a video address, Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said, "We know that there will not be enough space for everyone, but we will try to carry out the evacuation until we have gotten all the inhabitants of Mariupol out."
Earlier, Zelenskyy said all issues would be on the table if Russia's Vladimir Putin agreed to direct talks to end the war, including the contested eastern regions Donbas and the annexed Crimea peninsula. But he warned his country would be "destroyed" before it surrenders.

That’s probably one objective. I would say the most pressing is to kill/capture all of the AZOV battalion that are centered in Mariupol. In the process they had to level the city which also demonstrates their resolve.

Zelensky has been shelling civilians in the Donbas and Donetsk (supposedly his “fellow Ukrainians”) for a long time now. Their capital crime is wanting regional autonomy and a tight relationship with Russia because they have Russian cultural and language ties and want no part of Zelensky’s Nazi friends.
Zelensky is no George Washington. He’s not even a George Carlin.

My (contrarian) gut is telling me that USA and UK (British) military are already on the ground “advising” Ukrainian military. I suspect in a few days the news will leak out. My reasoning is that these people (Biden and the Deep State) don’t follow the rules that are in place; they always seem to lie, and make vague statements about what is going on, change the subject, throw out red herrings. And then, ... “We had to do [blank] because it would be immoral to just stand by while people were dying. We know that the people of the world stand with ... blah, blah, blah.”
Just like with Covid, what the MSM was saying turns out to be the opposite of the facts. BTW - how about the way the US gov’t was paying the MSM mega-dollars to promote Covid-Fear (how do I insert a TM trademark symbol here?).
And now, with the big gov’t bailout feature of some recent spending bill the newspapers are getting bailed out?
One would have to be very stupid to think we are getting the real story (or anything near it) with the last two years of Covidianism and then the handover of nearly $80 billion of military hardware and ammunition to the Taliban. I hope this wakes up (or smokes out) those of you who have swallowed the story that Ukraine needs us. I think that the Ukraine people are pawns in this charade, and the Deep State has a desperate need to keep Ukraine as one of its playgrounds for various off-the-books activities.
