Posted on 07/20/2022 7:34:22 PM PDT by John Robinson

As often happens during these every three to five-year maintenance routines, the configuration got bungled. Nothing is ever simple, eh?

On the bright side, the event ferreted out some FRINO Freepers...

Out of the closet, at last...

It’s not just FR. This happens to big ships with a large IT staff.

So, that’s what it was? My computer indicated democrats were trying to hack my FR account.

So it wasn't my fib handler trying to hack my phone. Or a liberal hack job to crash FR?

/S - I'm required by law to add that because stupid people get really upset when they read things without engaging their brains or sense of humor.

I use the Microsoft Edge browser and McAfee security.

Never noticed anything.

Thanks. Was worried for a minute that the site was hacked.

At first I thought my computer was unsafe and started all these Google Chrome steps to make my computer safe. But then I found other sites were OK. Then I tried FR on MS Edge and got the same message.

Sometimes about average.

Thanks for being on top of it, again!

On a very serious note; is there an heir to FreeRepublic when you’re no longer with us?

Re: McAfee

Yeah, it does pop up with unsolicited messages, suggestions, and greetings.

I am not 100% confident with Windows Defender, so I always subscribe to McAfee when I get a new computer.

Probably an unnecessary precaution and waste of money, but I have never been hacked or infected in the last 20 years, so I subscribe for peace of mind.

Nice little computer you've got there.

It'd be a shame if something happened to it.

Yep, time to renew the “Sectigo RSA Domain Validation Secure Server CA” (CA = “Certificate Authority”). “Up to 33% off” if you buy multiple years! ;-)
