I think the importance of marriage and having legitimate children born in wedlock is actually understated in The Bible. The Torah states that children from marriage is an ideal. It is surprisingly tolerant as long as children are produced.

Matthew 19:8-9

May be true of young women but my wife turns 80 soon and the idea would be disgusting to her.
