BREAKING: 9 House GOPers Reject McCarthy Deal
twitter ^ | Jan 1 | Chad Pergram

@ChadPergram

A) 9 GOP Hse mbrs or mbrs-elect sign a letter about McCarthy's offer to make concessions. "Regrettably, however, despite some progress achieved, Mr. McCarthy's statement comes almost impossibly late to address continued deficiencies ahead of the opening of the 118th Congress"

B) 9 GOPers on McCarthy: "At this stage, it cannot be a surprise that expressions of vague hopes reflected in far too many of the crucial points still under debate are insufficient."

C) 9 GOPers on McCarthy: "This is especially true with respect to Mr. McCarthy’s candidacy for speaker because the times call for radical departure from the status quo — not a continuation of past, and ongoing, Republican failures."

D) 9 GOPers on McCarthy: "For someone with a 14-year presence in senior House Republican leadership, Mr. McCarthy bears squarely the burden to correct the dysfunction he now explicitly admits across that long tenure."

E) 9 GOPers on McCarthy: "Thus far, there continue to be missing specific commitments with respect to virtually every component of our entreaties, and thus, no means to measure whether promises are kept or broken."

F) 9 GOPers on McCarthy: "Mr. McCarthy's statement also continues to propose to restrict the availability of the traditional motion to vacate the chair as a means of holding leadership accountable to its promises"

G) 9 GOPers on McCarthy: "We have from the beginning made clear that we will not accept following..Pelosi’s example by insulating leadership..We also note that the statement fails completely to address the issue of leadership working to defeat conservatives in open primaries"

H) 9 GOPers: "The progress made thus far has been helpful and should guide our thinking going forward."

I) 9 GOPers who signed the letter: Perry, Gosar, Roy, Bishop, Harris, Clyde, & Reps-elect Luna, Ogles & Crane.

I shed no tears if McCarthy does not become Speaker.
But who is going to replace his candidacy? And will he/she have enough votes to become Speaker?

What is their desired end-game? No House speaker should be chosen at all?

Well yes, if they dont vote for him and unless he stands aside.

Could go on for months. There is precedence albeit a long time ago.

Can’t afford this f’n around while the communists charge forward. We need leadership so committee and staff can get organized.

They need to be someone else less tied to the dysfunction which has existed for so long.

Amateur numbers. Gotta pump ‘em up.

But it is a good reference point as to how many RINOs are actually in the House. They’re not all in the Senate, obviously.

I understand but unless he stands aside the voting for speaker could go on for weeks/months and some of them are prepared for that.

Who blinks first.

Well, communists have been moving forward for 70 years under the status quo.

I’d say it’s time to f around.

He’s a weak leader. I only hope that Perry knows something, like for example that McCarthy will capitulate.

Scalise is my tip if McCarthy stands aside.

He wont run against him and will need to be drafted kind of thing.

A Democrat. Only a handful of RINO votes required.
