The National Hockey League is hosting an upcoming conference for “diverse” job-seekers looking to pursue careers in the sport that is open only to racial and gender minorities.
On February 2 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., the NHL — a professional association composed of 32 teams in the United States and Canada — will hold a new diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiative called the Pathway to Hockey Summit. The event is exclusive to female, black, Asian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+, and/or disabled registrants.
In a separate line on the advertisement, the NFL writes, “Veterans are also welcome and encouraged to attend.”
*** The administration of Governor Ron DeSantis quickly called out the apparent discrimination of the events, more than one of which appear to be taking place in Florida.
“Discrimination of any sort is not welcome in the state of Florida, and we do not abide by the woke notion that discrimination should be overlooked if applied in a politically popular manner or against a politically unpopular demographic,” DeSantis press secretary Bryan Griffin said. “We are fighting all discrimination in our schools and our workplaces, and we will fight it in publicly accessible places of meeting or activity. We call upon the National Hockey League to immediately remove and denounce the discriminatory prohibitions it has imposed on attendance to the 2023 ‘Pathway to Hockey’ summit.” ***

IMO, they made rule changes to benefit that one type, and also made the game so that traditional basketball skills...dribbling, passing, free throw shooting, two point shots, strategy and DEFENSE are just not encouraged....

Unknown to me, there are two NHL franchises in Florida: the Florida Panthers (Sunrise, FL) and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
They utterly failed because soon thereafter on Super Tuesday Trump cleaned up in the Florida and other primaries. Trump got the last laugh. See this 2016 vanity:

NHL isn’t what it used to be....they ruined their own sport in the mid 90’s...play is way to defensive and boring now. Gretzky and Lemuiex etc also ruined the league with their greatness...every thing after them means nothing. No watches..no one cares.
And those at National Review still never pass up an opportunity to bash Trump. Even if it is an article slightly critical of Biden, they make sure to throw in a healthy dose of it is all Trump’s fault.
They have given every excuse possible for anything Biden has done over the past two years, while still writing article after article letting their readers know why Trump is “bombastic” and “unprincipled” and can never be allowed to be the President again. I glance at their articles quite often to see if they have finally said “We were wrong”, but I’ve yet to see such an article appear.

When Lin Manuel Miranda wanted to recast the play Hamilton, his ad in the NYT specified ‘Minorities only’. I decided I would never see that play. Discrimination? Of course. But when I am being discriminated against, I can ignore these ugly people.

The NHL that had fewer helmets and only five minutes for fighting was the more polite NHL. I can’t stand the loud music and obnoxious fog or train horns and other nonsense aimed at the ADD crowd today.

I watch hockey a tiny bit. I can’t focus on fast paced sports, football is the same. But... for the life of me why are teams located in climes that don’t support ice?
