Harley-Davidson is planning to phase out motorcycles powered by its storied internal combustion engines, and will slowly but surely transform into an all-electric brand. Harley CEO Jochen Zeitz tells Dezeen that after 120 years of being famous for its big gas-powered models, electrification is the logical next step. That is, if the company plans on sticking around for another 120 years.
Harley-Davidson’s EV transition “needs to happen,” according to its CEO, and not just on a small scale with a brand like LiveWire. No, we’re talking H-D dealers selling EVs exclusively, although it isn’t going to happen overnight.

A bike-salesman friend of mine once said that Harleys are the most efficient way of turning gasoline into noise without the side-benefit of power.

Last summer I traded in my gas Stihl saws for their top of the line corded electric saw. I used my gas Stihls for more than 25 years and got tired of them not starting when I needed them. The corded unit I have will cut just as fast and just as long as a comparable sized gas unit. On it’s inaugural service, I tried to wear it out on a 27” diameter oak log. I cut steady for about 90 minutes and the saw ran strong the entire time. The balance in the hands is different from the gas unit, but I adjusted. Natural gas-powered corded chainsaw for me! However, I do miss the noise and the smell of gasoline and revving those mightly little two strokes.
I would throw in Mexican bagpipes, i.e. leaf blowers.
They need to fire this CEO immediately. HD is already operating in a shrinking market and intelligent people understand that electric vehicles are not going supplant the internal combustion engine, until we change the way we produce energy and until batteries aren’t made with toxic rare earth materials.
New version of Easy Rider will have the guys stranded when batteries go dead, walking for hours in the heat.

Note: Peter Fonda was so happy to have his first screenplay accepted by the studio that he bought a Rolex to celebrate. Off and on in the movie due to shooting sequences he has the old watch, no watch and several times the Rolex.
I have an old one that I’m restoring. I guess now it will increase in value even more.
I once met Willie G. Davidson at one of the big shows they had at the Cow Palace and he told me I should hang on to the old one. So I guess I will.

Yeah really. I love bikes but these Aholes with the open drag pipes need to be prosecuted without fail every time they fire up.
Doubly stupid is the way there burn out their own engines by being too stupid to remap the EFI when they run those pipes.
This goes for the Aholes with the 4into1s too. I can hear those jerks a mile away every weekend night at 2 am in the summer.

Back in the days before global enlightenment, public companies focused on the return for their investors by maximizing sales while damaging the environment, and excluding people of color, alternative sexual preferences, and gender fluidity.
The modern CEO is inclusive to all except caucasian-male-heterosexual-citizens, protects the environment against anything the caucasian-male-heterosexual-citizens enjoy doing, and focuses on the return of their board members by maximizing their ESG score as determined by investment banks, hedge funds, and institutional share holders primarily run by caucasian-male-heterosexual-citizens that all vote Democrat.
