We need some serious Mystery Theatre commentary for tonight's State of the Union.

But she was a new woman governor put up against the President to give the rebuttal.

Here is the first few sentences:

Good evening. I’m honored to be here and grateful that you’re tuning in. I’m Gretchen Whitmer, the 49th governor of the great state of Michigan. Tonight, I’m at my daughter Sherry and Sydney’s public school East Lansing high school. We’re here today with families and parents, teachers, and most importantly, students. I want to thank you all for coming...

Michiganders are no different from Americans everywhere. We love our families and want a good life today and a better life tomorrow for our kids. We work hard, and we expect our government to work hard for us, as well.

We have grit and value loyalty, and we still root for the Detroit Lions.

And then she went all partisan.

Sarah was absolutely awesome! That was one of the greatest GOP rebuttal speeches ever. Sarah is definitely presidential material. I’m thrilled that the GOP has such a deep bench… UNLIKE the democRATs.

My point was that the Democrats tried to put a woman governor mother up against President Trump in their rebuttal who began her speech emphasizing that she was a mother, a sports fan, an everywoman. And then her evil side emerged during the pandemic shutdown.

Sanders was put up for having a similar resume but was otherwise well-known as President Trump's Press Secretary and Governor Mike Huckabee's daughter. She wasn't the blank page that the Democrats hoped to pass Whitmer off as.

Look how the rebuttal affected Bobby Jindal, Joe Kennedy, Marco Rubio, and Gretchen Whitmer -- the "curse" of the SOTU rebuttal.

We all knew that Sanders would be different because of her experience as a Press Secretary. The Democrats went with optics with Whitmer, the Republicans went with the same optics but backed it up with experience under fire.
