President Biden accused congressional Republicans Tuesday of “calling for … defunding the police” — an audacious attempt to distance Democrats from such calls ahead of the 2024 election.
The 80-year-old president made the claim during a visit with mass shooting survivors in Monterey Park, Calif., as he tries to position himself as tough on crime ahead of his anticipated re-election campaign.
“Congressional Republicans should pass my budget instead of calling for cuts in these [mental health] services or defunding the police or abolishing the FBI, as we hear from our MAGA Republican friends,” Biden said.

The pentagon is the largest office building in the world. It has 6 zip codes. Biden wants to build a new FBI headquarters that is twice the size of the pentagon. Killing that building is not defunding the police.
I’m not defending Xiden, but he may be right. If I were in Congress, I would be calling for an end to federalizing local police. That means cut funding from DC to local police and cutting all strings that come with the money. It makes zero sense for taxpayers to send money to DC, wash it thru a bureaucracy and then send pennies on the dollar back to local police.
I AM for defunding the FBI and the DOJ, ATF and the Capitol Police. Let’s not forget the prison in DC used to torture the Jan 6 victims! The CIA, EPA, IRS, on and on.
