Republican Voters Across Pennsylvania Are Much Less Wedded to Trump Than You Think

DOYLESTOWN, Pennsylvania—Richard Tems was about as loyal a Trump supporter as you can get.

The Bucks County businessman and GOP committeeman has fiercely defended former President Donald Trump in editorials, interviews with reporters, and conversations with anyone within earshot. He voted for Trump twice and believed he was the right president at the right time.

However, eight years after the New York businessman and entertainer came down the escalator in Trump Tower in June 2015, Tems said he would move on in next year’s Pennsylvania primary. He plans to vote instead for Governor Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., for the Republican nomination for president.

“Why? Well, because DeSantis has done a brilliant job in Florida. He took a tiny little victory the first time, and he turned that state dark red by implementing good conservative policies. He brought in the right kind of people, and he turned that state from being purple, or occasionally blue, to very red,” Tems said.

Tems said what Trump did brilliantly was recognize the public was unhappy with the governing class. But “DeSantis knows that to win, you have to build coalitions, and that is what he did,” Tems said. “He spent four years governing conservatively and building a coalition that not only gave him a win last November, it had coattails for all Republican candidates.”

By the time the dust cleared in Florida last year, there were no statewide elected Democrats left standing for the first time in modern politics. DeSantis won reelection over former Gov. Charlie Crist, D-Fla., by a whopping 19 percentage points, even carrying Democratic Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties.

Trump has PA.

Consider the source.

"...DeSantis knows that to win, you have to build coalitions..."

In any compromise between good and evil, it is ONLY evil that benefits.

Apparently it’s beyond your blindly prejudiced point of view to consider the fact that DeSantis might not be lying at all.

Here’s the problem with the premise of Zito’s article...

If PA no longer wants Trump or MAGA, why does Deep State need to continue to steal PA’s elections?

Maybe Ms. Zito could address that.

Trump is right about him, If we fail to get Trump elected in 2024 ,we as a people are finished . You can kiss all Rino ass you want, because that’s what will be in your face. These are the most corrupt, immoral , faithless times imaginable. God help us!

"Ron DeSantis is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Bush/Tokyo Rove criminal complex and will betray us at the worst possible time."

No he's not. You're seeing things. Things that aren't there. Simply figments of an overworked, feverish imagination.

Do yourself and everyone else a favor and take a vacation already.

Salena Zito is a good, objective reporter.

I’m happy to see my friend Carol Sides quoted in this article.

Carol is an old-fashioned Republican. She never speaks ill of another Republican.. A very classy lady, and much loved in Williamsport.

Indeed, you are correct. Before DeSantis there was Rick Scott, Jeb and Crist (who was a Republican back then). 24 years of red leadership. The table was set.

If Florida is such a horrible place under DeSantis, why does Trump continue to reside there?

If Ron Desantis gets the GOP nomination the main stream media will do to him exactly what they did to John McCain. Ron will be their darling until he wins the nomination and then they will devour him.

Of course they will. They even said a simpering lefty surrender monkey like mittens was literally Hitler. I would hope that DeSantis would go to war on the corrupt mockingbirds, but I have no proof that he would. Trump did and does. Still, I would vote for DeSantis in the general if he were the primary winner.

Maybe there are still GOP voters left who care about winning the general election rather than making some emotional statement

Pennsylvania, the state with two mental retards in the Senate.

Notice I did not say the state that VOTED for two retards.

Now with universal mail-in ballots, no one in PA has to actually bother to vote. The ballot are created, cast and counted for you, automatically.

***********

The emotional statement is pretending that DeSantis can win the general election.
He would have to “thread a needle” just like Trump or any other Republican.

He won’t get a chance, he’s ‘roadkill’ in the GOP primary.(An Orange Corvette will hit him doing 120mph)

Maybe you wish? The more support desantis receives from the moneyed uniparty gop republicans (paul ryan, the bushes, the new york slime, fox news, mcconnell, Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman, cheneys’, bill kristol, mike pence, ken griffin, etc.), the more I know he’s the wrong choice.

I agree with Trump’s claim, “. . . having Paul Ryan on your side almost guarantees a loss, for both you, the Party, and America itself. . .”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is backed by many globalist billionaires at war against America First, and they will certainly be cashing in their favors if DeSantis decides to run for president.

De Santis’ Bill 2006 ostensibly AGAINST vaccine passes, still allowed state health officials to have citizens forcibly vaccinated and put in quarantine centers.

“. . .the record shows that. . .DeSantis used his authority as governor to enforce lockdowns, shuttering businesses, and use the power of the state to punish noncompliance with his edicts.
