If I were a Dem stuck with an 80 yo Biden, I’d try to make 76 yo+ Trump the R nominee too.

According to RealClearPolitics averages, there is one presidential candidate whose voter approval is below Joe Biden’s - Donald Trump. (Biden is 42%, Trump is 39%). There is nothing on the horizon that is likely to change that.

This week, Trey Gowdy made a salient point. Biden will be a formidable opponent should Trump become the GOP nominee. He went on to say there is a not a single battleground state that Trump lost in 2020 that is likely to flip back to Trump (due to Democrat turnout machines in Philly, Detroit, Atlanta, Milwaukee, etc.). A fresh face (such as DeSantis) could offset that by retaking some of the suburban independents that Trump has permanently lost

Further, just as the GOP primary season is kicking off in early 2024, Trump will be dealing with court proceedings explaining why he gave hush money to a porn actress and a Playboy playmate. What an inspiring message!

Trump’s trashing of DeSantis is revolting, and it is regrettable that Trump has turned Ronald Reagan’s party into a narcissistic personality cult!

You ignore how many things he accomplished and only want to focus on what he didn’t?

Sleazy.

"Poll: Donald Trump Holds 32-Point Lead Over 2024 GOP Primary Field"

I understand that election laws let a candidate keep campaign donations, even if they don't win election. If so, some of Trump's challengers may just be following the money.

It is unlikely that any Republican of any stripe will ever win the white house ever again anyway regardless of who it is. Demographic changes largely to blame.

While I sympathize with your sentiment, I do not agree. The right Republican can win in enough swing states to prevail in the Electoral College. Republicans have recently won statewide races in Wisconsin, Nevada, Georgia, New Hampshire and others are clearly within reach (Arizona, Maine 2nd CD, and possibly Pennsylvania).

Hey coninwombatboots! You better get your ass and your head wired together! Whose side are you on, son? Don’t you love your country? Then how about getting with the program? Why don’t you jump on the team and come on in for the big win?

The deficit was substantially lower under Trump than it had been before Covid. ANY President would have had to run up debt to combat Covid.

Most importantly, Trump's budgets were consistently lower than the Republicans in Congress in his first two years in office.

You're trying to rewrite history and isn't going to work.

Further, you're opposed to the proxy war in Ukraine and opposing the only candidate that would have ended it long ago? That is amazing bit of hypocrisy.

Ramaswamy will gain ground on DeSantis during the primaries if DeSantis runs. He’s a legitimate shot at finishing second.

Donald Trump supports Disney, Bush Light, Florida pervert kindergarten teachers, etc. He’s all in on the transgender revolution.

2 years? Covid hit in 2020 and he lost election months later. The first anniversary of covid flatten the economy curve didn’t even happen on his watch.

I don’t believe Trump can win the White House again, and hold him responsible for 2020, but neither do I find DeSantis a compelling candidate.
