The Biden administration estimates that since December, Russia has suffered 100,000 casualties, including more than 20,000 killed.
Among those killed, nearly half were believed to be soldiers from the private military company Wagner Group, which is heavily involved in the grinding fight for Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine, White House national security council spokesman John Kirby said Monday.

I’m sorry but the best analogy I can give to most of the posters here is that when I was a teenager I had a lot of fun with famous actresses, of course it was all in my pubescent mind.

An article claims a fact about the war and they line up like its a peep show and they’re going to tell us all in no uncertain terms that:
Russia will win
Russia won already
Any story about Russian setbacks of any kind are a lie
Ukrainians are homos
It’s horrible that Ukrainians die defending their own country
Because Biden is president, defending anything in the world is bad.
They have no idea what they’re talking about and it’s impossible for them to simply digest and evaluate and discuss information.
I don’t know who will “win” the war, but they sure as heck have no idea.
Our buddy JP posted today that Wagner had “kicked the” Ukrainians “back to Kiev”. When the news was Wagner is still fighting for Bachmut and begging for ammunition.
I think this is actually true because Wagner has taken the brunt of it. But notice that they state CASUALTIES and not deaths as 100,000. Deaths are 20,000. That’s in line with what I think, but 1/2 of those men are expendable Wagners and frankly, you’re just lessening the pool of Russian prisoners and violent thugs that want to be paid to kill.
The issue is that the Ukrainian deaths are many times that, possibly 10x that amount. And 1/4-1/5 of Ukrainians have fled, so there’s no one left to replenish the pool. The Russians have 10mil army aged men they can call up.

And you just demonstrated you don’t know what has happened in a year and 4 months of armed conflict, where almost no one got the beginning correct, didn’t understand the Russian goal, didn’t understand the direction Ukraine was going, didn’t understand how Russia corrected its strategic mistakes, and didn’t understand why Russia choose defense until they pick their time for offense, and don’t understand there is no path to victory for Ukraine.
But go ahead a believe the White House and Pentagon instead of independent sources that have no reason to lie to you.

No, it’s the amount of conscription that the Ukrainians had to perform. They had 200,000 men in 2021 - trained by NATO. The invasion happened and they quickly conscripted 500,000 more to cover apparent losses, many died in the initial surge and repelling of the Russians, and I think the majority of the deaths, 10,000 or so, of the Russian army as well as around 40,000 Ukrainians came during that retreat. Then they had to recruit another 100-200k from places seen as ‘safe’ like Odessa and Lviv - they have 40+ year old men out there manning trenches.
The real death is occurring in Bakhmut and the surrounding trench warfare. Wagner is taking the brunt of the Russian deaths, but the Russians are simply sending scouts with observational drones out to fortified trenches and then aligning very good artillery fire wherever the men are.
The sad part is that we started this war, funded it, and after so much pointless death, are now losing it.
No wonder outside of the EU and Japan, the world is abandoning us.
Part of Poland was occupied by the Russian Empire for well over a century. The Soviets stabbed them in the back in 1939 in coordination with the Nazis, stole their eastern provinces in 1945, and imposed Communism on the country for 44 years. You can hardly blame the Poles for shoring up their defenses with new tanks. Maybe Putin is struggling in his Ukrainian invasion, but that does not mean that Putin or his successor may have plans to retake Poland and the Baltic States.
