ORLANDO — Arlo Dennis has decided on a deadline to get their family out of Florida: July 1.
That is the day a slate of new laws signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis targeting the LGBTQ community take effect. Doctors will be allowed to deny care based on their moral beliefs. The use of preferred pronouns will be banned in public schools. And children will be barred from attending drag shows, among other measures. One law that prohibits gender-affirming health care for transgender people under the age of 18 is already being enforced.
The Republican governor vying to become president in the 2024 election championed the bills as part of his “Florida Blueprint.” His critics call it “the slate of hate.”
For Dennis, they add up to a difficult but urgent decision to flee. “I’m a trans adult. I have gender nonconforming children, and these laws are just so specifically targeting our communities that I don’t feel like my parenting relationship is going to continue to be respected,” Dennis said. “We just low grade don’t feel safe.”

On the campaign trail in Beaverton, Oregon, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama mistakenly tells a crowd that’s he’s been to 57 states - with one left to go.
There is nothing in this description that is "targeting" the LUGBUTQ community. The Hippocratic oath requires a doctor to deny a procedure if he thinks it will cause harm. All the other items involve protecting minors from harm.

A man I knew once said “Kids are supposed to grow up and find their own way rebelling against some things they were taught and carrying on others. Sometimes they make a discovery or do something that benefits society. So many kids now start out with terrible parents breaking the law and the rules themselves. They have nothing to rebel against.”
I heard a speaker once who said some young people are rebelling by mirroring the old school ways such as working hard, shunning drugs and obeying the law. Rebels.

Well, given that you transgenders are ferals who think some of us are committing thought crimes through simple civil disagreement, I find your terms acceptable.
I’m sure they’ll do fine in my old state of Maryland, in which they have been allowed to use the bathroom of their choice in most private establishments since 2013.
Mebbe because 99.9 percent of them somehow are not feral thought police.
