Consider Genesis 50:20, New Living Translation. Joseph tells his brothers - the ones that sold him into slavery years earlier:

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.”

Are you trying to say that slaves should have understood that their bondage was meant for good? Should Jews who lived through the holocaust understood that it was an impetus for the creation of modern Israel - that Nazism was meant for their good?

If we believe a people enslaved or brutalized by a regime should recognize that "God intended it for their good" - then what we believe is beyond credulity in my opinion.
