I think he’s authorizing the mobilization of up to 3K troops. Doesn’t mean that many will be called to AD. Hell, this late in the FY I’d be surprised if there’s enough money left to do half that.

I’m sure there’s probably different rules and regulations.
Everyone I knew was USAF or USMC, all enlisted personnel.
To be honest, nobody really paid attention to IRR because “they’d never activate me”…
I can’t think of a reason you’re wrong.
Anything is possible under the current scenario.
My fear is that US personnel will get sucked in, as they did in the 60s for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
At the end of the day, there will come a time where Putin, Zelensky(if he’s still around) and Biden(?) or whoever, are going to have to be seated at the same table to discuss how this all gets divvied up.
And 81,000,000 US voters ensured that the US sends a vegetable to that meeting.

Exactly...Folks did their 2, 4, 6 years depending on when they joined. Decided not to re-enlist, turned in their gear and adios.
And officers are eligible for recall at any time, I think.
Either way, this is not a good thing. We have one of the largest militaries on the planet, with the best equipment on said planet, I cannot fathom why reservists need to be activated, unless the active duty folks are going to deploy and the reservists will backfill those assignments.
Who are the Selected Reserve?
Who the hell knows. I can see if he was mobilizing/activating a reserve Patriot Missile battery or some other MOS that is essential to whatever plan they’ve dreamed up.
All I know is, that under the current command structure and who’s in charge, this ain’t good.
That or specific jobs are needed. Either way, I’m surprised by this.
It’s only 3000, but a huge talking point politically.
But if they’re ‘reservists’ and being mobilized they’re dropping what they’re doing and showing up at their respective duty stations, aren’t they?
Maybe not deploying anywhere, but won’t they be on some type of AD orders? Someone has to pay for those hotel rooms, meals, etc.

Yes, that is exactly what it means.
No. The ready reserves are support. When the US sends hardware abroad, someone has to look after it. The increased NATO efforts to support Ukraine requires more staff.

Yep. The puppet-masters are. Biden will sign anything put in front of him. If he’s in a cranky mode, he might have to be promised ice cream first. But sign he will.
Heck, if the puppet-masters want us to go to war with Brazil tomorrow, then we will go to war with Brazil tomorrow. Biden will quickly sign the necessary documents.
And the GOP House? They are busy investigating UFOs and can’t be bothered with any saber-rattling stuff. And the media? They are busy checking to see if Trump ever littered.
Excellent points, but does this suggest that demands exceeds current AD personnel, which might further suggest we are much more deeply involved In Ukraine than supplying armaments and some training on the equipment we are sending over there?
