Officials are facing increased scrutiny for the emergency response, including why the emergency sirens were not set off and whether closing the roads prevented people from getting to safety.

If true, this was a pre-planned slaughter of innocent lives.
But, not one person will be punished for it.
Mr. Manuel, the water Czar, needs to be in prison. This coupled with the road closure and disregard for the dry brush build-up around Lahaina power lines by Maui Electric all contributed to the felony loss of life on Maui. My home for more than 20 years will never be the same.

It’s crazy. This story screams wall to wall news coverage. A tragedy that involves the deaths of hundreds of children, IN THE UNITED STATES, and virtually no media hype.

We should follow this principle, never go where the gov’t wants you to go in an emergency or maybe at any time. Didn’t they have this same problem in Katrina? Common sense should be in order but a lot of times the crowd is wrong.
Need you ask? Just look at who they elect.

That’s a nasty comment and totally untrue. For years Hawaiians have been screwed by both political parties. They do not have a voting majority and have allowed liberals from the mainland to establish a good old boy powerhouse with one party rule. Virtually all the fat cat State politicians were off the Islands vacationing when the Maui fires occurred.
It makes zero sense to block escape routes.
Who ordered the road blocks? The chief of police? It seems every government official conspired to kill all those poor people. If the plan was to burn out the natives and claim their property, we will soon know.
