Modelo Especial knocked off Bud Light from its decades-long perch as the nation’s top-selling beer in the wake of the Dylan Mulvaney controversy that sparked a boycott of the Anheuser-Busch brand.
Sales of Modelo at groceries and beer stores for the year outpaced Bud Light — the first time the brand has beaten Bud Light on a year-to-date basis, according to the latest data from NielsenIQ, whose figures were first reported by CNN.
Modelo, which is distributed in the US by New York-based Constellation Brands, had an 8.34% share of dollars spent on beer compared to 8.28% for Bud Light through Aug. 12, NIQ reported.

Modelo is the favorite beer in America now? Shouldn’t that be a cause for concern, or at least be an eye opener?
Bud Light should serve as a model(o) of why going woke is not advisable.

Bud Light isn’t beer and never could be.
Modelo is almost but not quite beer.
Before “Dylan” I’d drink bud light if it was cold and someone else provided it, say, at a gathering I was invited to.
Now I’d drink dog pee before I’d drink Bud Light tranny fluid. And I would never drink dog pee.

Negra Modelo is OK. The white cans are swill.

Did Modelo’s sales increase that much, or did Bud Light’s sales just get divided among the numerous another alternatives to where it simply fell behind Modelo?
I really like Modelo Negra, especially with Mexican food. Dark, sweet and perfect with fijitas or even a smothered burrito.
But the Modelo Especial, in my opinion is worse than Coors Light. So, I give it a -2 on the 0-10 scale.
Modelo has 143 calories and Bud Lite has 110 calories. Personally, I wouldn’t drink them because I prefer Bud Lite Platinum with its 6% alcohol and a sweeter and more flavorful taste than the bland regular Bud Light. The Platinum is no lite beer with its 139 calories but, on a hot day, who cares? In fact, who cares when it is chugged down?
