Humans tend to be creatures of habit.
Even if you think you’re not, you really are. After all, what happens if you go to bed without brushing your teeth? If you brush right before bed every night, you probably feel a little weird skipping it.

And according to one study, there’s supposedly a problem.

Owners from these states more frequently stored loaded guns, carried firearms outside their homes, and in Mississippi, often stored them openly in vehicles. These states are known for their relaxed firearm regulations. Conversely, in New Jersey, where gun regulations are stricter, the use of gun safes is more common. Minnesota differed again, with firearm owners more inclined towards rifles and shotguns, and primarily citing hunting as their primary reason for ownership. In contrast, the main reason in all other states was home safety."

Me too. I couldn’t sleep, knowing I had a loaded gun under my pillow, even in its holster. I don’t know how my aunt did it.
Our two cats sleep on our bed, too. Just not while we’re sleeping- my wife won’t allow it. And I don’t keep guns within reach of their little paws. That’s asking for trouble…

Firearms are ALWAYS loaded.
The gun controllers don’t see the recent Israel example as a justification for civilians owning guns. They worship the power of the state, and a few hundred killed, a few thousand wounded, and 40 infants beheaded in their cribs just don’t even move the needle against their hatred and loathing of heretics like you and me who want to be able to defend ourselves. They would cheer if we were killed. They’re too cowardly to do it themselves, so they empower their minions ATF, FBI, etc. to do it for them.
The new “science” starts with the conclusions “eg climate change” and manufactures the “evidence” to support the conclusions. It the academic way these days. There isn’t an honest gun control advocate, EV cheerleader, anthropogenic climate change loudmouth, etc in on the planet.

Yep. Many “unloaded” guns have killed people. That’s why one of the main rules of proper and safe gun handling is that “all guns are loaded”.

I love my local ‘Bad Habit.’ Church on Sunday morning, out for breakfast and then we hit the range. ;)
I keep a weapon in my truck which I park in my garage each night. I keep auto loaders, unchambered in my house in various places. I keep a shotgun unchambered in the front closet for bears. My grandkids if they come to the house are taught gun safety rules from an early age. If I think they are not ready I will take the magazine out of the weapon but leave it where my wife and I can access it quickly. A safe is nice and I use mine for various pieces, but its useless if you need to access your weapon quickly.
I don’t broadcast that I carry ever in public. My wife and I have code words for emergencies where if the word is uttered we know to call the police.
Who did the study & how was it done ? How large was the sample?
4 loaded pistols at one time. That bed is an armory.

You keep thinking the authors are going to make a point but I guess they don’t think that is important.
