Trump rejecting conservatism on foreign trade was a wonderful thing. Probably the very best policy he had. And it’s why the globalist oligarchs like Charles Koch and Rupert Moloch hate him so much. These billionaires have manipulated Republican voters for so long into outsourcing our country and opening the borders.

Trump is more of a nationalist than a conservative. I wish he were conservative on the life issue but he has made clear that he wants localism instead of baby protection. Pence should never be president but he is taking the conservative position on abortion. DeSantis has backed away from conservatism on abortion as well. The public, sadly, seems to want abortion on demand from what all the referenda results say. That’s why I say this is a godless majority country.

Murdoch and Koch and the rest were happy with the tax breaks.

As for foreign trade, the rhetoric was A+, the execution was C-.

The combined U.S. goods and services trade deficit increased to $679 billion in 2020, compared to $481 billion in 2016, the year before Trump took office. The trade deficit in goods alone hit $916 billion, a record high and an increase of about 21 percent from 2016.
